Follow me for realistic ways to feed your kids well even on

Follow me for realistic ways to feed your kids well even on the chaotic days 🤍 The freezer foods that save us on “those days.” You know the ones. When I’m tired, running late, or simply cannot think. Yes, I care about nutrition. And yes, I absolutely rely on my freezer. Frozen peas and sweetcorn are my quiet heroes. A few minutes in the microwave with butter and salt and suddenly there’s colour and fibre on the plate without me chopping a single thing. Frozen berries go straight into porridge or yoghurt. No washing, no waste, no guilt about fruit going off in the fridge. They also rescue a basic breakfast instantly. Homemade batch-cooked meals are gold if I’ve been organised enough to stash them. A leftover bolognese, curry or soup tucked away means future me gets a break. Even one portion feels like a win. Frozen wraps and bread mean I’m never stuck. Toasties, quesadillas, quick pizzas, egg wraps dinner doesn’t need creativity, just a base. Frozen veggie burgers or falafel are brilliant when nothing’s defrosted. Quick protein, minimal effort, everyone fed. And homemade healthy ice lollies? Lifesavers. Blended yoghurt and fruit poured into moulds. Coconut milk and berries. Even just diluted smoothie mix. They feel like a treat, cool everyone down, and I know exactly what’s in them. Here’s what I’ve learned: Freezer food isn’t lazy. It’s strategic. On the days decision fatigue hits hard, the freezer removes steps. And fewer steps mean a calmer mum. Most of us don’t need more recipes. We need fewer decisions. What’s your freezer hero when you “can’t tonight”? Tell me im always looking for new ideas 🤍

This isn’t about hiding vegetables or tricking kids. 🫶 It’s about creating familiar, low-pressure ways for kids to explore new flavors without being overwhelmed by texture or visuals. A simple pasta with blended veggies lets taste lead the experience, while still delivering real nourishment that supports growing bodies. As a pediatrician and a mom, I come back to meals like this because they’re reliable, flexible, and work for the whole family. You can swap in whatever vegetables you have on hand and keep the base familiar and comforting. It’s not perfection, it’s a system that makes dinner feel easier. 🍝 For more family-friendly food systems, recipes, and tools designed to support calmer mealtimes, explore our site and our stainless steel essentials. ❤️

I really do love cooking from scratch. In an ideal world, I’d be slowly chopping every vegetable, enjoying the process, taking my time. But most days I’m cooking with little people at my ankles, being asked when dinner’s ready, trying to get food on the table before anyone melts down. I still care about nourishment. I still want real food and plenty of veg... I just don’t always have the time or space to do everything from scratch. So these are the kitchen staples I rely on. @sainsburys Things I prep ahead when I can, and a few clean, ready-made options for the days we get in late and everyone’s starving. Knowing there’s a decent pasta sauce in the cupboard means I can throw together a quick meal and not stress about it. #NourishingMeals #RealLifeCooking #BusyDayMeals #FamilyFoodMadeEasy #FeedingMyFamily

If getting veggies on the table feels like one more thing on

If getting veggies on the table feels like one more thing on your already full plate, this is for you. Save this for the nights when dinner is chaos and you need simple, not perfect. 🥕 Here’s what actually works for busy families: 1. Serve a “fridge salad” every night. Buy salad stuff. Put it on the table. That’s it. Consistent exposure to the same foods increases acceptance over time. When fresh veggies are just there every night, they become normal, not a negotiation, not a surprise. Easy exposure > elaborate recipes. 2. Frozen and canned veggies absolutely count. Those microwave steam bags? Lifesavers. Especially when the oven and stove are both occupied and you suddenly think, “We need a vegetable.” They’re nutritious, budget-friendly, and convenient. When they go on sale, we STOCK. UP. Because feeding a family means working smarter, not harder. 3. Add veggies to what you’re already making. Veggies don’t have to show up as one lonely “side.” They can blend in, stand out, crunch, soften, disappear, or shine. Raw, roasted, in soup, in tacos, in pasta sauce, in mac & cheese. My husband still reminds me of that time I put sweet potatoes in the lasagna (true story 😅 10/10 though!). 4. Relax about what your kiddos actually eat. The more pressure you serve (“three more bites!”), the less they tend to eat long term. Your job is to offer. Their job is to decide how much to eat. Focus on a calm-ish, connected meal. (Yes, I know. Toddlers. I said ish.) Consistency beats intensity every time. Normalize veggies. Lower the pressure. Let time do the heavy lifting. Save this for later and let me know how it goes 💛 #feedingfamilies #eatyourvegetables #realmomlife #weeknightdinner #familyfoodlife

Most frozen potatoes aren’t just potatoes. Many are pre-cooked in seed oils before they even hit your freezer — which means you're reheating oils you may be trying to avoid. At a typical grocery store, it can actually be hard to find options that are just potatoes. A few I personally like: ✔ Cascadian Farm hashbrowns (just organic potatoes) ✔ Roots Farm Fresh (seed oil–free options) But most of the time, I make my own at home and cook them in beef tallow with sea salt. Clean living doesn’t mean giving up the foods you love. It means finding better ingredients. Save this for your next grocery run 🛒 Have you ever checked the ingredient label on frozen hashbrowns? #cleaneatingmama #ingredientmatters #readthelabels #healthymomhacks #nontoxicliving #seedoilfree #realfoodmovement #grocerytips #healthymomhabits #wholefoodswaps #iowamoms #busymoms

In Canada&USA, especially when shopping at places like Costco, most vegetables are sold in large portions. That’s great for families, but not always practical when you’re preparing food for a baby. If we don’t plan ahead, vegetables can easily go to waste. That’s why freezer meal prep makes so much sense 👇 ✨ What I do: Steam vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, pumpkin) Blend until smooth Portion into small containers Freeze for later use When it’s time to serve, I simply thaw one portion using steam or a water bath, adjust the texture if needed, and it’s ready 🤍 Simple, practical, and perfect for busy parents, especially when everything comes in Costco size 🇨🇦🧊 #FreezerPrep #BabyFoodPrep #CanadaMom #ugccanada #BabyLedWeaning

These are the freezer basics that make everyday cooking easier in our house. I keep things like sofrito (chopped onion, garlic, carrot and celery) for meal bases, and poached proteins frozen in ice cubes for quick toddler meals — so I’m not starting from scratch each time. They’re not full meals — just small things that make routine cooking quicker and simpler. Save this if weeknight cooking feels harder than it needs to be 👇 #workingmumlife #realisticparenting #feedingtoddlers #familyfoodideas #mumlifeuk

This has saved us many times! On days where you just don’t have much food in the house to give your baby, that freezer stash comes in sooo handy. We like to cook a little extra or use a bit of any leftovers and freeze it in portions. You could do chicken soup, mince, spaghetti bolognaise, stew, stewed fruits, stock, broth, curry, the list goes on. I always freeze the food in portions with a little meat stock and then once frozen, move them to an airtight container. Then you can just heat a portion or 2 up for your baby at breakfast, lunch or dinner 🫑🥕🥘
