Madder Root is a natural stain you can use without mordant for a beautiful red. It’s so easy. Just cook the root down in a pot for an hour+ in water until nicely saturated. Add the bones after it’s done. Steaming liquid doesn’t mean it’s too hot but if you prefer to wait until it’s cool that’s fine as well. Let the bones soak until you get the color you want.
