Here’s how 📚⬇️ Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) is a game-changer, no inventory, no shipping, Amazon manages everything for you! Step 1.) Write your book! If your not sure what to write about you can get ChatGPT to help you create a list of the top selling book ideas in your niche. - just make sure you choose a topic that you know, like and understand so you can drive traffic to your book to generate sales and answer any questions people might have. Step 2.) Go to Canva (you can use the free version but the paid version is a lot better and not expensive) open an E-book template: this will be perfectly formatted for saving as a PDF and uploading to KDP. Step 3.) Make sure you ask someone to proof read your book - Canva does not spell check! Step 4.) You spent months writing your book. Then you opened Amazon KDP to upload it, and it rejected your file. Here's exactly why that happens, and what KDP actually needs. Amazon KDP does not accept a regular Microsoft Word document the way you wrote it. Your manuscript needs to be reformatted to meet specific technical standards before it will upload cleanly and look professional inside a printed book. Here is what KDP requires that most authors don't know about: 📌Margins: KDP uses a gutter margin system. The inside margin (binding side) must be wider than the outside margin, and that width changes depending on your total page count. That is, a 150-page book needs different margins than a 350-page book. 📌Fonts: Not all fonts display correctly across devices. Certain fonts embed properly in print and ebook files; others create layout errors that trigger rejection. 📌Image resolution: Any images in your manuscript must be at least 300 DPI for print. Most images downloaded from the internet are 72 DPI. They will look blurry in print and may cause upload rejection. 📌Bleed settings: If any images or design elements extend to the edge of a page, they need bleed formatting. Without it, KDP crops them incorrectly. 📌Section breaks vs page breaks: Using the wrong break type causes chapters to start mid-page instead of on fresh pages is one of the most common formatting errors KDP flags. This is not about whether your book is good. It's about whether the file is technically ready. Most first-time authors discover these requirements after their first rejection. You don't have to.
