Believe it or not, they live in America! The only place in the world where you can find both crocodiles and alligators is in South Florida. The Everglades national park region is home to both animals and a great place to see them. To distinguish the two, alligators have a more U-shaped snout while crocodiles have a more pointed or V-shaped one. Male crocodiles are larger than females and can reach about 20 feet in length but rarely exceed 14 feet in the wild. The largest American crocodile ever recorded in the wild is “Croczilla”, a 14-foot-long crocodile spotted in the Florida Everglades, but there might be a bigger one! Keep your eye out for them if you ever go down there. They will definitely have their eye on you!🐊 • • • #alligator #crocodile #everglades #florida

So this happened the other day 😁 A large American Crocodile nicknamed Half Jaw really made a splash at Flamingo Marina 🤣 The whole drama started hours before when a bigger croc called Freddy went after Half Jaw. Freddy chased him for hours in a dangerous game of hide and seek. Freddy is known for killing male rivals and it looks like Half Jaw already lost once to Freddy. Another encounter would likely be fatal so this was deadly serious for Half Jaw. They would surface then disappear as the underwater hunt was on. We got in a Kayak from Flamingo Adventures and wanted to see if we could get some cool shots from the water. Welp, Half Jaw was so desperate to escape Freddy that he came up out of the water. We parked the kayak and followed him. He walked across the entire length of the parking lot! Nobody at the marina had ever seen that before but there he was! He made his way to the other side, sunned a bit at the edge of the wall and then splashed in! He looks so adorable with his feet dangling 😇 February, Flamingo Marina, Everglades National Park, FL #crocodile #florida #funnyanimals #cutenessoverload #nature #alligator #everglades #wildlife

Apologies to anyone who wasn’t trying to see this scene, but this was a raw Matt Geo moment from a recent work environment that I decided to bring off the hard drive. For this shoot, we were deep in the Florida Everglades shooting a product launch spot for a brand when we came across the biggest American Crocodile I’ve ever seen in the wild carrying off one his own species. Already having the drone up, I used the rest of the battery on documenting this moment before refocusing on the project at hand. To me, even these brutal moments of raw nature, life and death, are such an amazing thing to witness let alone capture. It’s funny to think that just outside of Miami, where people are getting upset over coffee lines and yacht docking, prehistoric natural moments like this are unfolding at the same time. And remember, nature is neither good nor evil, it just is… @natureismetal

*Breaking: Florida Gator Boards Tourist Boat in Everglades Chaos briefly floated through the Florida Everglades this week when a full-sized alligator reportedly decided that observing from the water was no longer sufficient — and climbed directly onto a tourist airboat. Witnesses say the gator launched itself with surprising confidence, landing between rows of stunned visitors who had moments earlier been discussing sunscreen. “It wasn’t aggressive,” said one shaken tourist. “It just boarded like it had a reservation.” Footage shows the reptile sprawled comfortably along the deck, appearing less interested in people and more interested in achieving what experts are calling “optimal sun-to-metal surface warmth.” Tour guides insist the situation was handled calmly. “We tell guests to expect wildlife,” said one captain. “We just don’t usually mean *on the seating chart*.” Passengers reportedly froze in place as the gator settled in, blocking the aisle and temporarily upgrading the tour from “scenic nature ride” to “extreme bonding exercise.” One man attempted to slowly lift his feet off the floor. Another whispered, “Is this part of the package?” Local wildlife officials later confirmed that alligators sometimes investigate boats, especially if they associate them with food or curiosity. They also confirmed that climbing fully onboard is “not standard but… ambitious.” The gator eventually disembarked on its own, sliding back into the water with what observers described as “zero apology and impressive confidence.” Tour operators have since added a new safety briefing line: “If the alligator joins us, remain seated. This is still technically his neighborhood.” Sales for Everglades tours have reportedly increased 22%, with many visitors now requesting what they’re calling “the authentic Florida welcome.” Because in the Sunshine State, sometimes the wildlife doesn’t just wave from the shore. It checks your seating arrangement. This video is created using AI, and the story is for your entertainment. Stay safe out there!

Croczilla! a/k/a Croc Z and a magnificent, HUGE American Crocodile. Some estimates clock this bad boy in at 16 feet...I'm not about to measure 😉 I have always had a fascination with Alligators...how they look so prehistoric. They still fascinate me but when I saw an American crocodile....NEXT LEVEL! It just gave a thrill and struck a primal chord deep within. I was witnessing greatness. A being stretching across the ages, alongside dinosaurs. Enduring everything nature could throw at it...from ice ages to ignorant humans. Yet still here. Still glorious. Still powerful. Still terrifyingly beautiful as only nature can be. What a marvel and what an honor to be among them ❤️ Everglades National Park, Florida #crocodile #nature #wildlife #respect #nationalparks #endangeredspecies #conservation #wetlands #florida

Florida’s coastal habitats are some of the most beautiful and unpredictable environments in North America. The mangrove shorelines, tidal creeks, and quiet backwater channels around Naples create a landscape that looks calm at first glance, but every local knows how much life is moving just beneath the surface. Encounters between people and wildlife are rare, but the sudden appearance of an alligator is a reminder of how quickly the natural world can shift from peaceful to powerful. Moments like this show why Floridians treat the water with deep respect. An alligator can stay hidden in only a few inches of murky depth, waiting silently until movement or vibration brings it to the surface. Their speed at close range is not a myth. It is a survival trait shaped by millions of years of evolution in the wetlands and estuaries that once covered most of the state. Naples may be known for calm beaches, luxury living, and quiet boardwalks, but the ecosystems surrounding the city are still wild at their core. Mangrove nurseries shelter fish, birds, crabs, and reptiles. The same mangroves also provide perfect cover for an alligator that chooses to travel or hunt along brackish shorelines. Residents learn early that any body of water, even one that looks peaceful, can hold wildlife. This understanding is part of living in Florida. Respect for the environment is woven into the culture here, especially in Southwest Florida where conservation and coastal awareness are major parts of local life. Alligators are not villains. They are apex predators that help maintain balance in the landscape. When humans and wildlife cross paths, it is a reminder that Naples sits on the edge of a living ecosystem that existed long before the city did. Florida teaches awareness, patience, and humility. The water is beautiful, but never empty. Every splash, every ripple, and every shadow under the surface holds a story about the natural world that surrounds us. #NaplesFlorida #FloridaWildlife #Alligators #Nature #OnlyInFlorida

Alligators are often the most feared thing on our tours, but I think they are misunderstood. Think about the springs during summer, if that many people showed up to my house unannounced, I would not be as dismissive as this sweet swamp puppy was. #ecotourism #floridapaddleexcursions #swamppuppy #irockersup #visitflorida

A home security camera in Cape Coral, Florida, captured rare footage of an alligator returning a missing baby to its doorstep. Police say the child had wandered from a nearby yard before being found by the animal near a drainage canal. The video shows the alligator placing the baby safely on the porch and retreating to the water. The infant was unharmed and reunited with the parents. Wildlife officials called the behavior highly atypical but confirmed the animal acted without aggression.
