This Saturday I’m sharing this special soundcheck, from 2 years ago! With very sincere thanks to Handre and all at Seabourn, and to Dominic for the impeccable piano accompaniment! It is always a stark and beautiful thing to realise precisely where one stands. As a part of a grand and overwhelming history that spans back further than any record will ever show, as another movement of the grand orchestra. Standing on stage in the amphitheater at Ephesus was one of those times. To wonder what has been here before oneself, and what path one has walked in the grand procession of the trillion footfalls of history to reach this beautiful destination. To then experience the wonder of music in such a place is a cherry atop the world’s sweetest sundae. That evening was the first time I performed this song publicly, and this is perhaps an even more intimate snapshot. The soundcheck under the immense, impossible heat of the Turkish sunshine that perfectly mirrored the concert under the steadily rising moonlight.
