DO YOU KNOW ANGKOR? Cambodia 🇰🇭 . I dedicate this video to my parents, who accompanied me to Cambodia this year for my exhibition in Phnom Penh and who have now been retired for a year. When I was 13 in Cherbourg, Normandy, my parents opened their first business, a restaurant called “Le Temple d’Angkor”, an institution that was open for 27 years. I remembered the decoration with Angkor paintings, canvases, statuettes and wooden objects that my parents had collected. In 2010, I made my first solo trip to Cambodia and was able to discover and explore the city of Angkor. And over the last fifteen years, I’ve been to Angkor countless times, both to photograph and to meditate. Angkor is a great open-air history book on the Khmer empire that will always feel like home. . #angkor #cambodia #reel

Of a lost city & forgotten temples: It was the day of Buddha Purnima. And I’d like to believe that by some divine providence, a long-time dream of visiting the Angkor Wat, the largest Vishnu temple in the world, materialised on the same day. The Angkor Archaeological complex holds over 400 temples and we did about 10 on the first day. The Indian influence is stunning: Ramayana, Mahabharata, Garuda, Anjaneya, Narasimha and Naga feature predominantly in most carvings. Ta Prohm where The Tomb Raider (Angelina Jolie would ring a bell!) was shot, is stunning with its warped trees piercing the hardest of rocks. How can ruins be so stunning! A mind expanded by new experiences…grateful for each of them.
