Pruning an apple orchard 🍎🍏 In Humboldt County, the best time to prune a fruit tree is during December-February. The tree has no leaves or fruit on it at this time. I’M SO GLAD THE WEATHER IS GETTING COOLER! 😎 I am very lucky to live and grow in Perth - we basically have an all year round growing season 📆 But summer is more challenging with fruit trees - the hot weather means that pruning and feeding have to be kept to a minimum. That means we get to the end of the season and trees can be depleted and, over it 😔 But now that the autumn weather is on the way, we can look forward to some well-earned fruit tree care AND…new trees! Early to mid autumn is a great time to plant new fruit trees - roots can start establishing while the soil is still warm.
