Cornwall Expectations VS Reality😭🤣

Part 1 of my favourite places to visit in Cornwall 🌊 1. St Ives - One of the prettiest towns in England and a firm favourite on any Cornwall itinerary. St Ives is home to a lovely fishing harbour surrounded by old fisherman houses, and it has everything you need for a holiday in Cornwall. 2. Pentire Poppies - The most beautiful sea of poppies across a wildflower meadow overlooking Crantock Beach near Newquay on the north Cornwall coast. Owned by the National Trust, visits can admire the poppies (do not walk amongst them) whilst enjoying a gorgeous coastal walk to Polly Joke Beach. If you have the energy, I recommend walking to Holywell Bay, another gorgeous beach in Cornwall. 3. Perranporth - A great day trip from Newquay, or a place to base yourself, Perranporth felt like the perfect slice of Australia, just with fish and chips and colder water. Famous for its tidal pool (Chapel Rock), Perranporth Beach offers 3 miles of golden sand. 4. Gwithian Beach - My favourite sunset spot in Cornwall, Gwithian Beach is located near located near Hayle, just north of St Ives. The beach is long and sandy, spreading across 3-4 miles with excellent surfing conditions. 5. Kynance Cove - one of the most famous beaches in England, let alone Cornwall. Kynance Cove is an excellent reward after a walk down the hill! This iconic beach on the Lizard Peninsula is renowned for its white sand, turquoise waters, and dramatic, red-and-green serpentine rock formations Part 2 coming soon!! Cornwall Food & Coffee Gems You Can’t Miss (Warning: proceed only if you’re a real foodie ☕🍴) 1. Newquay – Counter Culture 🥂 Best kombucha + Northern Spain–style tapas. 🍰 Hands down the best dessert ever. 2. St Ives ☕ Mount Zion Coffee – OMG, possibly the best coffee in England. No surprise, they’re pulling shots on the latest La Marzocco machine and using beans from a top London roastery (yes, I checked; the subscription is only £40/kg 👀). 🍴 St. Eia – Homely, indulgent, bursting with real flavours (and I only tried the starters!). 🍷 Ardor – A stylish spot with a Spanish vibe, offering a fantastic selection of tapas and local beers from Southern Spain (and beyond). Recommended by the Michelin Guide, though personally, I’ll save my paella cravings for Spain 😉. 3. Penzance 🥯 Wren & Raven – Best breakfast ever. Incredible bagels (not the gummy kind you find everywhere else in England) + a true art hub. 🥐 Loafs Bakery – Flaky perfection. Don’t miss the raspberry & pistachio dome and, of course, a traditional Cornish pasty. 4. Four days of eating in Cornwall and this is the hit list. First everyone and their uncle told me I had to try Malcolm Barnecutt pasties and pastries in Rock. I listened, I drove, I bought and tried. Favourites were the steak and stilton pasty and the sugared Chelsea bun for dessert. Insanely sweet and delicious. Next up is Surfside, located right on the actual beach, yes you have to walk on the sand, in Polzeath. They have a great bar in the back at night and lunch on the beach felt like a slice of paradise with freshly fried white bait, oysters with shallot vinegar and the best fried fish sandwich of the century. A must visit breakfast spot is Flo’s, also in Polzeath. It sits just opposite the beach and is a great place to pop in for coffee and breakfast, whether you’re eyeing up pasties or an drool worthy breakfast sandwich, which is what I went for with an ocean view. If you’re a burger lover, you absolutely cannot miss The Mowhay. They have a fantastic menu, everything is delicious and mom loved her liver pate. But, the burger should win awards. You will not regret the trip to spoil yourself here! We then made our way down the coast to try the newly open Gorse bakery which is a great place to pick up pastries for the whole family before they rise and shine. We tried the doughnuts which were light as air and sugary sweet, followed by the pain Suisse and I wish you could hear the crunch of the flaky pastry here. This taste I will never forget. We couldn’t come to Cornwall and not have fish and chips. We tried the newly opened Rock fish and chips and when I tell you this was the best fish fry I’ve ever crunched in, I am not lying.
