“Even though autumn week at @thebabycloudgravesend fell on quite a hot day, it was lovely for Arloe and I to be transported into autumn and get a feel for what the season will bring this year. This was Arloe’s very first look at what autumn is! Once again there was an abundance of things for the babies to take in, making sure to stimulate all of their little senses. Arloe seemed to really enjoy the warm lighting throughout which captured the essence of autumn perfectly. Throughout the class we explored different lights, sounds, colours and textures, it was interesting to watch the way Arloe reacted to different materials and objects on his skin, and in his hands. During one of the activities we made a miniature thunderstorm with gentle tapping on the floor, rattles for rain and umbrellas with tinsel to really imitate the sights and sounds a storm brings. I found it fascinating that the babies use lots of different parts of their brain during this type of sensory experience, and then they marry everything that’s happening together! I could see how hard Arloe was trying to take it all in at once. Again, I think Arloes favourite part seemed to be chilling out at the end under relaxing, twinkly, warm lights and comforting materials, to set him up for a lovely nap! There were so many take-home exercises, tips and advice given in the lesson and I can’t wait to explore the autumn more with Arloe now that we’ve just stepped into September!”

Happy little superhero 🦸🏿‍♂️ I love hearing about how our babies benefit from classes, here’s a sneak peek “Arloe and the other babies flew into our superhero session this week. The class was completely jam packed full of bright colours, twinkly lights, upbeat music and so many different textures to explore. This week was such a contrast to last week and I could see the huge difference in Arloes demeanour just from a change in lighting and music! Arloe had so many giggles this week, from being a thrill seeker when we squatted the babies- shooting them up and down like mini superheroes, it seemed the more sudden the squat was the more he giggled! To seeing his own reflection in a foil balloon, he watched himself intently from all angles and heights and I could see him taking in his reflection from different perspectives- it was almost as though he was engaging with himself (and finding himself very funny😂). This week Arloe seemed most focused when we filled up little superhero bags with surprises; an assortment of rattles, textures and materials, and lights. He took huge interest in the bag before he was even sure what was inside, as he received each object one by one I could see him taking it all in. By the time the bag was empty he was completely surrounded by them all as he refused to let go of any of them, he was clearly lapping up the variety going on around him- it was beautiful to watch. The class ended in the lovely calm way it always does- a favourite of mine every week and once again Arloe had so much fun that he was ready for a long nap to digest everything he just learnt and rest his little superhero body and mind!”
