The etymology of art derives from the Latin word “ars” meaning, art, skill, or craft. A skill that usually refers to the quality of expressions of what is beautiful or of great significance. The practice of making art, to me, is too precious to let burn out quickly from forcing it too many times. I’ve come through many art blocks and what I’ve found works best for me is nurturing my skill and protecting it from burnout by keeping my art space solely for leisure purposes. Pushing to complete pieces does have its pros as it helps you to just create, but doing it too often can come with a price. I’ve seen how I just set art as a whole aside for much longer than if I had just let it flow comfortably. Realizing this and knowing I have full autonomy in how I live out my artist side has helped me to grow so much these past months. (bc this is only a hobby not a full time job 🤩) However, if you are going through a major art block for some time, here are some tips that have helped me when I’ve really been stuck for too long: - You don’t have to start big. Pick up something as simple as a crayon, make some doodles, have fun. Don’t focus too much on the planning process, that just keeps you from actually working on it. Just start. - You don’t need more art supplies. People get so caught up on the thought of how much better their art can be if they had more materials, try working with what you already have, that’s when creativity really has to flow. - Don’t compare. Remember your greatest superpower is that you are yourself, who cares if someone’s already done it, there’s still no essence of YOUR art if you don’t create. __________________ Share your thoughts! . #art #fyp #drawing #selflove #growth

One simple trick that completely changes how engaging your art videos feel ✨change your camera angle✨ from time to time. Seriously! Even small shifts in perspective make your process look more dynamic and cinematic. You don’t need a fancy setup for that, I film everything on my phone: I use a tabletop tripod now (super handy!), before that — a microphone stand (worked surprisingly well), and at the very beginning… I literally propped my phone in a glass with tape 😅 🕰️ The truth is, our attention span is really short, so videos with even slight camera movement or angle changes keep people watching longer. Usually, those get me way more views and saves. Other little artist video hacks I swear by: ✨ Film in natural light — it makes your colors pop and looks effortless. ✨ Add a short close-up of brush strokes or paint mixing, it gives texture and depth to your video. ✨ Use relaxing sounds or music that matches your painting mood. ✨ And don’t forget: you don’t need perfection. Authentic, cozy chaos always wins over polished content. #tips #tipsandtricks #femaleartist #artist #artistsoninstagram #sketchbook #inspiration #draw

I used to believe that if I just painted more… watched more tutorials… worked harder than everyone else… I’d eventually get “good enough.” But painting every day for hours doesn’t guarantee growth. It usually guarantees burnout. The biggest improvements in my art didn’t come from grinding. They came from having a clear path, practicing the right things consistently, getting feedback when I was stuck, and being around artists who pushed me forward. That’s exactly why I built the Digital Painting Academy. So you don’t have to figure it all out alone. With Black Friday here, you can join with a huge discount. Tint your canvas before you start your drawing or under painting! This accomplishes two important things: 1)It takes away the sometimes scary blankness and “pristine” newness of the white canvas that can be very intimidating for some artists, and 2) it does a lot of work for you by establishing your mid tones immediately and helping you gauge your lights and darks. Your paintings will go faster and easier I promise! Try a thinnish wash of burnt sienna. It works well for many paintings including landscapes and especially portraits! Of course this is only for work in acrylic, oil, or other opaque media, not transparent watercolor. … Was this helpful? Comment DRILLS and I’ll send you info for the Drawing Drills course. Flowing water starts as a ribbon. When you understand how a ribbon twists, overlaps, and changes direction, you can turn it into rivers, creeks, and waterfalls that actually feel like they’re moving. This is how Drawing Drills works. You train simple forms until they become second nature, then transform them into complex, natural elements from imagination. Flow first. Form second. Details last.

Here are 5 colored pencil tips that I wish I knew sooner that can make your drawing process easier 🌟 Keep in mind these are tips are from my own experience and knowledge I have gotten over time drawing with colored pencils💗 I hope they are helpful!✨ 1. Use other mediums as a base⚡️ To speed up your drawing progress you can use mediums such as markers, panpastels (basically just pastels) or watercolors as a base. Covering up the parts of your drawings before adding colored pencils can save you a lot up time. My personal favorites are markers and panpastels 2. Use a brush to remove the colored pencils parts/dust ✍🏻 When you draw with colored pencils, they will leave little tiny parts on the paper and drawing. So to avoid risking smudging it out with your hands use a brush instead 3. Paper makes a difference 📒 Paper makes a difference when it comes to using colored pencils. I prefer paper that has some thickness and a bit of texture but not too much texture. A bit of textured paper makes you able to do more layers where smooth paper makes that more difficult as you can easily overlayer and risk ruining the paper. Really thin smooth paper just doesn’t work for me. 4. Get pencil extenders ✨ To get your colored pencils to last longer, getting pencil extenders will literally save you money (doesn’t we want that in this economy) as you can use your pencils till they are super tiny 5. Getting extra tools for details🌟 (There are actually 3 tips)🤭 You can get some different tools that can change your artwork or just handy along the drawing process. The first is a hobby knife. Basically you remove the top layer off and can use colored pencils on top to make it stand out mostly when drawing hair & fur. The next is a tiny eraser or electric eraser. With this you can also remove the colored pencils layers to create extra details that you can’t do with using colored pencils on top. The last is a white gel pen. To really make the highlights pop or add extra details a gel pen does wonders which is difficult to create with just white colored pencils🤍 #artist #arttips #coloredpencils #artisttips #drawingtips #colorpencil
