Here’s a look at my recent mapping challenge and WHY I purposely kept them asymmetrical. My sweet client came in with a noticeably strong muscle pull. She was told that she would HAVE to get Botox to even out her brows first. While that is an option, I like to work more conservatively as an artist. I recommended that we stay as close to her natural hair as possible otherwise we would have to shave off a whole eyebrow just to try and “even” them out, requiring high maintenance over time. My client completely trusted my recommendations and she was realistic about her brow goals (defined shape with a little more balance but not necessarily 100% symmetry). She sent in her healed photo after one week and you can see how much more balanced they look with her eyes closed. Yes, with eyes open she will always have more of a pull but we are aiming for IMPROVEMENT and plus, no one’s face is 100% symmetrical anyway. Fixing uneven brows: Sometimes it’s the hair growth + sometimes it’s the muscle. 💪🏾 This time around it was the muscle causing the brow to appear uneven, so we opted for Botox to lower it rather then shaving a bunch of hair off. Uneven brow correction. This client has an overactive brow on her left side (left eyebrow tends to be raised more than the right). Because her right eyebrow is so much lower than her left to begin with, we ended up removing most of the right brow and reconstructing it with hair strokes and shading to match with her left brow. Do your eyebrows sit at different heights? Most people notice it in photos before anywhere else. One of the most common reasons is uneven tension in the lateral part of the frontalis muscle.That part that lift the tail, often more eyebrow wrinkles present there. That muscle is responsible for lifting the eyebrow -and one side often works harder. This is influenced by facial mimicry and sometimes by eye dominance. The side you use more recruits more. Sometimes asymmetry is structural, related to the temporal bone or skeletal shape. But very often, it’s muscular - and that’s where this tutorial helps. You can use a small amount of hydration or cream here to support glide, especially in the forehead. When done consistently, this work improves neuromuscular coordination and helps the eyebrows settle into a more even position. Save this and use it regularly.
