The stuff of dreams or nightmares? What would you do if you drove around a corner at night and came across this 5m python. And don't say drive over it!!! On the weekend that's exactly what happened to me. I was amazed to find this absolute monster of a Scrub Python crossing the road. The largest confirmed scrub python ever found was a female at 5.65m in 2000. The next largest a male at 5.33m in 2002. I took approximate measurements at 5m, so there's a chance this individual is one of the largest wild snakes in Australia. It was healthy and I helped to move it off the road to safety, so hopefully in a couple of years it can grow ever bigger! I would have loved to get accurate measurments, but as it was only myself I didnt fancy being wrapped up by a 5m python. This was absolutely the coolest wildlife encounter I've had this year. My First Scrub Python! This species was high on my list to find during our production in the Cape York Peninsula. On our first night of searching I spotted this python on the move. Scrub pythons have the potential to reach lengths of over 18ft, making them one of Australia's largest snakes! This young individual was around 8ft long and still has plenty of growing to do. I have worked with a few captive scrub pythons in the past and all have been very temperamental, however, I quickly learned that wild scrubies are super chill and rarely show any signs of aggression ☮️ #nature #wildlife #reptile #snake #python #wildlifephotography #wildlife #animals
