Christian AND Parent of an Autistic Kid? Have you asked questions like these? 👉will he/she ever speak? 👉how do we potty train a child we can’t communicate with? 👉will he/she go to college? 👉 will he/she live with us long term or something else? 👉what therapy should we do? 👉what happens when we are gone? We asked them too. After our son was diagnosed autistic, all these fears started to stir in our heart and minds… but out of all those questions… another one surfaced… heavier than the others… 💡Will he ever know God and love him forever?💡 🚨 TRUTH: all those questions above are all valid, BUT the answers to them will NOT solve my sons GREATEST NEED. 👉 His greatest need is that he needs Jesus. Just like I do. ⭐️ The GOOD NEWS of The Gospel, that Christ came as fully God, fully man, lived a sinless life, died a sacrificial death, rose victoriously crushing sin, satan, and death forevermore…. the good news of Jesus, is for **ALL** people. My son is autistic, but that does not mean he can’t know or grasp that God loves him! It’s my job as his mom to teach him how to know and love God forever…in a way he learns best! It can be done! You just speak the gospel over your kiddos every chance you get! Then you trust God with the rest. We are not their savior, but we are a window for the world to see the One True Savior. Are you a follower of Jesus raising an autistic child? 📝 Comment the word “DEVO” and I’d love to send you a FREE 7-Day Bible Study devotional to encourage you as you raise autistic disciples for God’s Kingdom. . . . . . #autism #autismawareness #autismmom #autismfamily #autistic #autistickids #autismspectrum #parentingautism #christianautismmom #discipleship #church #ministry #neurodiversity #christian

What you’re looking at is a step-by-step example of autism and affective attunement. This is how I support my child in real time: 1. She didn’t want to wash her hands after chalk. She said she felt sad so I didn’t force compliance. 2. I validated the feeling first. Connection before correction. Safety before steps. 3. Then I used affect attunement to shift the mood. Something playful. Light. Engaging. (Yes… even a silly fake barf sound.) 4. Her body softened because she felt understood. Once she felt safe, she could move with me. This is co-regulation. It’s the moment-by-moment art of tuning into your child’s emotional state and guiding them gently. Not pressure. Not demands. Just connection. This is neurodiversity-affirming support. #autism #everydayautismessentials #autismsupport #neurodiversity

There are things autism parents carry around every day that

There are things autism parents carry around every day that they will never say out loud. Not because they don’t want to. Because they’re afraid of how it sounds. So I’m going to say it for them. We’re not fine. We say we are because we’ve learned that most people don’t actually want the honest answer. But behind that “I’m good” is a level of exhaustion that most people will never understand. We get jealous sometimes. We watch other kids hit milestones effortlessly that our children have been working toward for years. We’re happy for your family. But it stings. And the guilt we feel for even admitting that makes it worse. We’re terrified of the future. Not next month. The “what happens to my child when I’m gone” kind of terrified. That thought doesn’t visit us occasionally. It lives with us. We stopped asking for help a long time ago. Not because we don’t need it. Because we got tired of blank stares and useless advice from people who have no idea what our day actually looks like. And the one thing we need the world to understand — saying this is hard does not mean we love our kids any less. Both of those things are true at the same time. And we deserve the space to feel both without being judged for it. Now you know. Do something kind with that. ❤️ Share this with someone outside the autism community. They need to see it. #autism #theautismdad #autismparenting #thetruththeydontsay #specialneedsparenting

Last week a child with autism came into our office extremely dysregulated. Being in the room was overwhelming and the screaming felt nonstop. For many kids with autism, meltdowns are not a choice. Their brains struggle to regulate. The first few days were intense. Then things began to shift. By calming neural inflammation and supporting brain regulation (including increasing GABA, a calming neurotransmitter), his nervous system started to settle. Primitive reflexes began to fade. Communication opened up. By the end of day three, he said “Dad” for the first time. By day five, he was calm, regulated, and able to control his emotions. When the brain can regulate, development has room to grow. Comment “HELP” below if your child is struggling with these issues, my team will reach out with free resources and answer any questions you have 📲😊

It’s Autism Acceptance Month, so I’ll be sharing content all month centered around Autism, especially Autism level 1. Autism Level 1 can look like a child who seems “fine” to everyone else… but melts down the second they get home. This is masking. This is nervous system overload. This is what autism in kids often looks like in real life. If you’re parenting a neurodivergent child, this is your reminder: what you’re seeing is real. Never listen to those who doubt you, ever. You know your child better than anyone else. Just because someone is not struggling on the outside doesn’t mean not mean they aren’t struggling on the inside. Advocate for those 504 plans. Comment ALIGN if you want support navigating staying calm for your child and helping them calm alongside you. 🩵 Save this so you remember in the hard moments #adhdparenting #autismacceptancemonth #autismlevel1 #neurodivergentkids

❤️‍🩹 With the best intentions adults can inadvertently place a lot of “social demands” on autistic kids when attempting to build connection. A “social demand” is anything a person does that requires a response from another. 🗣️⚠️ While we cannot eliminate all demands from daily life, too many kids miss out on connection due to extreme avoidance of these “social demands.” Establishing rapport using a strategy shown here can help offer ✨enjoyable✨ interaction until “social demands” feel more social, and less demanding. 💞 #autism #autismawareness #autismacceptance #autistic #therapy #relationships #actuallyautistic #neurodivergent #adhd #aba #appliedbehavioranalysis #speechtherapy #slp #teacher #specialneeds #specialeducation #earlychildhoodeducation
