DASH 8 TO THE RESCUE These poor auto train passengers sat dead in the water at Doswell for the better part of 7 hours, waiting for Amtrak to scramble together a rescue strategy. The second engine, AMTK #358, ceased operation, and the solution came on the back on P089, which picked up #511 from the Lorton Auto Train Terminal. After struggling to get the Dash 8 hooked up and ready to go, the Auto Train finally blasted off around 3PM. The resulting Amtrak 53 didn’t leave the terminal until after 1AM…
