So often baseball coaches just yell at players to get in front of the ball. Often times it puts the player in a bad fielding position. There are many balls that you can work through instead and backhand them. Backhanding a routine ball and working through it is much more athletic at times, but don’t get me wrong if you can beat the ball to the spot and work through a routine play absolutely do that. 2B Double Plays: Although I’m not a fan of backhanding a ball hit straight at you or to your left, I can see how it gets the hips cheated towards 2B just a little earlier, so i can see how some people can get comfortable with it. Regardless, When going through your double play turns, control is the most important aspect. Feet stay under the hips and never get too far outside the body. Mix up the move you use, same lane ground ball but different speed can call for a different move. #PryorDevelopment
