Trauma in children does not always look like sadness or withdrawal. In classrooms it can appear as anger, refusal, shutting down, or explosive behaviour. When a child’s nervous system feels unsafe, the brain shifts into survival mode. Understanding trauma-informed approaches helps teachers and parents respond with regulation and support rather than punishment.

Small routines can make a big difference for a child with ADHD. What may look simple — a hug, a timer, a predictable bedtime routine — actually helps regulate a nervous system that works overtime all day. ADHD kids don’t just need reminders. They need structure, rhythm, and connection.
