“Students don’t like working in small groups.” I hear this all the time—maybe you’ve even said it! 😅 But learning how to work collaboratively is an absolutely critical life skill. And while students don’t need to work together all the time, they do need to know how to work with diverse groups of learners on a common task. So how do we help students work together in small groups? It comes down to 3️⃣ things: ✅ Establishing a clear structure ✅ Explicitly teaching communication skills ✅ Have a system for accountability Watch for a more detailed breakdown.

“Making blending simple.” When introducing the concept, you can begin by demonstrating how sounds can be combined together to form words without explicitly labeling it as “blending.” Once the child grasps the concept, you can then explain that the process of mixing sounds together to form words is called blending.
