Perfect your cable step ups. Here’s how: (training plans available @traindailyjlh 🔗) ✅ Shoes off for balance (and respect): Better foot connection means more control and power. Plus, nobody wants your dirty shoes on the bench. ✅ Hold the cable in the hand opposite your working leg. This creates rotation, core and great glute engagement. ✅ Don’t just step up and drop down. Control the descent by keeping your weight in the front leg. Lean your torso forward as you step back and down. ✅ Your front knee should stay over your ankle/mid foot. If you want your glutes to do the work, don’t let your knees past your toes because this will mean your quads will be taking over. ✅ Think about driving through your front foot. The back leg should softly tap the floor, not push off it to get you back up. ✅ Don’t pull yourself up. Use your hand for balance only. @aybl dc NEENY #gym #gymtok #stepup #stepups #gluteworkout

Not your typical cable step up. I’ve been dealing with some low back pain off and on for about two months now. I found that holding the cable with my hand whenever my back was hurting caused it to flare up even more. So I decided to give this version a try. It was AWESOME! At the bottom the goal was to get as much stretch of the glute as possible while maintaining control of the cable. Save this for your next cable step ups. #cablestepups #variation #glutes #fitover40 #lifestyle

Cable Step Ups = Glutes Gains 💪🏼🍑 If you struggle with a regular step up or you want to try a different variation, give these a crack!

Glute activation hack for step downs! Press the inside of the non-working knee into a yoga block against the cable machine while holding on for balance. Then step down slow and controlled, keeping pressure through the heel of the foot on the bench. That slow lower is what really lights up the glute - and driving through the heel of the foot on the bench helps you stay stable and load the glute more instead of shifting into the quad. (I’m clearly using a foam roller- I don’t have a yoga block.) Progress by holding a dumbbell. 💪🏽 #glutes #gluteday #legday #hack #workout

Cable Step Up with a slight twist This version of steps is a great way to add a little more added to your glutes Instead of facing the cable, face slightly away and as your coming down turn your body into the cable. As you come up snap those hips away from the cables and really feel that glute engage

LEANING CABLE ABDUCTION ➡️ STANDING CABLE ABDUCTION (ATTACHMENT RAISED) The leaning cable abduction aims to overload more of the lengthened range of the delt but actually makes the movement more unstable - leading to less force output. Instead, just raise the cable attachment up and create a more stable position with your body by using a counterforce with your arm on the rack. Alternate these with dumbbells, machine or regular cable attachment to also ensure you’re hitting the muscle where it’s strongest (mid-range). Let me know if you’re going to give it a try and feel the difference👇🏼
