this hike will kick your trash but in the good way 😂 📍Camelback via Echo Canyon 🥾2.6 miles out and back 📈1522 ft elevation Camelback Mountain is one of Phoenix’s most iconic mountains and offers amazing, 360 degree views of the city. keep in mind, this hike is very strenuous, exposed and subject to extreme heat, so it is crucial to bring plenty of water and sun protection. the last half-mile of the trail involves a steep, rocky scramble, supportive footwear with good traction is a must! the secret cave is located about .08 miles from the start of the trail at hiking post number 20. if you look to the left, you will see the marks of a lesser known trail. walk up that way and within 10 seconds you will wrap around to the beautiful cave. it’s a perfect spot to relax, have a snack and enjoy the views. the best time to hike this trail is during the winter season. parking is free, and there are restrooms available as well. this is a popular trail, so remember to be courteous of other hikers and leave the trail better than you found it 🙌🏻 who else has been personally victimized by this hike? 🙋🏼‍♀️ #camelback #camelbackmountain #echocanyon #arizonahiking #arizonaliving

The elevation gain is just over 1,500ft 🥾 Cholla Trail: Slightly longer at 3 miles round-trip, Cholla Trail provides a different approach to the summit. While still demanding, it’s considered slightly less steep than Echo Canyon but still requires a good amount of rock scrambling. The elevation gain is just under 1,300ft Both of these hikes take you to the same 2,704-foot summit where you are rewarded with panoramic views of the Phoenix metropolitan area ⛰️ Our biggest tips are… take more water than you think you will need and allow yourself plenty of extra time to take breaks. Details below ⬇️ 🥾 this 2.6 mile round trip hike is just outside of Scottsdale, Arizona - which makes it the perfect hike if you are limited on time. ⛰️ with an elevation gain of around 1,300 feet, it is still considered a challenging hike. This mountain sits in the middle of the city, giving it incredible views in every direction! 💥 this took us a total of 1.5 hours. 🐫⛰️ We did the most popular hike in Phoenix, Camelback Mountain. There are two trails: Cholla Trail and Echo Canyon Trail. Most people pick one and go up and down while we started up Cholla and finished on the Echo Canyon side. It had great views of the city. There’s a lot of elevation gain and scrambling on this hike so be ready to work! You don’t have to be super buff to hike Camelback but I won’t lie and tell you it’s easy. The Echo Canyon side of Camelback Mountain is a 1.23 mile hike to the summit and you gain 1,280 ft of elevation. It will certainly kick your butt if you are anything like me, but it’s good to push yourself and it does get a little easier every time I go!
