Teaching new games in stories each week! There’s another game to learn in my stories right now! Try these game modifications for Beat the Deck: Make the game harder: Move through the tableau one card at a time. Don’t move on to a new card until you’ve lost on your current card. Make the game easier: add another column for a 12 card tableau. This is a good option for young kids. What happens when there’s a match? Flip a 4 on a 4? We count this as a loss; it’s neither higher nor lower than the current card, but you can call it as a “safe” if that works better for you!

How to Play: • Remove the jokers • Deal 20 cards to each player • Set up 4 face-down piles in the middle: – 2 outer piles with 5 cards each – 2 inner piles with 1 card each • Each player draws 5 cards into their hand • Flip the 2 inner cards at the same time — GO 🏃‍♀️💨 Gameplay: • Play a card 1 higher or 1 lower than the centre piles (A ↔ K ↔ 2 loops) • Play one card at a time • Always refill your hand to 5 cards • If you can play, you MUST • If both players get stuck, flip from the outer piles • When outer piles run out, flip the centre piles to reveal new ones First to play all 20 cards yells SPEED and wins 🙌🔥

You will need: 11 copies of each card Ace-5 7 copies of each card 6-10 (total: 90 cards) Shuffle the cards together to form the draw deck. 🃏How to Play: On your turn, draw cards one at a time, placing them in front of you. ♠️ If you have three or more cards in front of you, you’re at risk of busting. If you draw a card that matches one you already have, you bust and lose all your cards. You can stop at any time before busting to avoid losing your cards ♦️Stealing: During your turn, if you draw a card that matches one on the table, you can steal all copies of that card from all players, adding them in front of you. Be careful! If stealing gives you three or more cards, you are now at risk of busting! ♣️Banking Points: If your cards survive until your next turn, you bank them to your victory pile. Banked cards are safe from stealing. 🏆Winning: Continue until the draw deck is empty. Cards are worth their face value in points. (Ace+1, 2=2, etc) The player with the most banked points wins! 👩‍🏫 Busting Explained: You bust if you draw a card that matches one you already have in front of you, AND you already have 3 or more total cards. If this happens, discard all the cards in front of you. Your turn is over. If you draw a match and only have 1 or 2 cards in front of you, you do not bust. Layer this card on its match and either stop or continue with your turn. If the first card you draw matches ones in front of other players and you choose to steal, if stealing these cards would give you 3 or more cards, you now are in danger of busting should you draw that card again.

There are so many fun card games you can play with just one deck! This is SNAP!. Players take turns flipping the top card of their pile and placing it face-up by their pile. Keep taking turns quickly and watch closely. When two cards of the same rank (e.g., two Jacks) appear, the first player to shout “Snap!” wins the matching cards.
