How DC cardioversion saves Heart from ventricular fibrillation

Synchronized cardioversion is simply a well-timed defibrillation. While it typically starts at lower doses, synchronization can occur at any energy level. When we hit “sync,” the monitor identifies the patient’s R waves. When we hit the shock button, we hold it and the monitor will deliver a shock on the next R wave (in contrast to a defib that full sends as soon as we hit the button). Why? In order to miss the relative refractory period: the second half of the T wave where stimulation can cause bad squiggles 💀 (Think R-on-T phenomenon or commotio cordis). El catéter guía el dispositivo a la válvula, donde se utiliza para reparar la válvula y evitar la regurgitación (fuga de sangre). Beneficios: Mínimamente invasivo: Se realiza a través de una arteria y no requiere incisión en el pecho, lo que puede reducir el riesgo de complicaciones, el tiempo de recuperación y el dolor postoperatorio. Menor tiempo de recuperación: Los pacientes pueden regresar a su vida normal más rápidamente que después de una cirugía a corazón abierto. Posible alternativa para pacientes de alto riesgo: Puede ser una opción para pacientes que son de alto riesgo para la cirugía abierta debido a otras enfermedades. Preserva la válvula natural: A diferencia del reemplazo de la válvula, la reparación transcatéter preserva la válvula mitral natural del paciente, lo que puede mejorar la salud del corazón a largo plazo. Menos necesidad de anticoagulantes: Si se preserva la válvula mitral natural, no se requieren anticoagulantes a largo plazo, lo que reduce el riesgo de complicaciones asociadas con estos medicamentos.
