So, instead, I use lighting, LUTs, aspect ratios, film mattes, cool camera shots, and angles to achieve a similar effect. Make sure to rotate through the camera angles to maximize viewer retention and keep your reels engaging. #creator #content #tutorial #cinematography

Here are some shortcuts to immediately make it sure you get cinematic footage 🎥 ⬇️ 1. These settings are an industry standard. You want your frame rate at 23.976 or 24 to make it easy. You want your shutter to double that at 1/48 or 1/50 for most non cinema cameras. This gives you a natural motion blur. An aperture at 2.8 will give you a cinematic depth of field and still be sharp with most lenses. ISO at 800 for shooting lot (or whatever your cameras native iso is, some are 640. I have my camera at these settings 95 percent of the time and use an ND filter to change exposure. 2. This is a big ones. Lens compression is what our eyes are used to seeing in movies. Shooting at 35mm and above give you a nice compressed frame that automatically feels more cinematic. That’s not to say you can never go wider for establishing shots or to purposely extend your frame. But tight lenses help a cinematic look. 3. Camera movement is also a huge factor when it comes to making things look cinematic. Adding a slow push or pull, tracking with your subject or using a gimbal to add dynamic camera moves goes a long way to making things look “expensive” Bonus: If you’re shooting yourself like I am a lot, most of your shots will be static. That’s okay. Static shots can look great too but this is really when you want to focus on a strong interesting composition, and since you can’t have movement from the camera, be sure there’s movement in your frame. #filmmaking #cinematic #cinematography

Want to improve your storytelling? 👇🏾 EPISODE 1. Start shooting multiple angles of one scene while doing a specific task or action. You don't need multiple cameras, just one. Pay attention to any objects in the frame, and keep them in the same place for continuity. When you edit the video, cut on 'action' as this makes the shot feel seamless. Cinematic Framing 🎥 The angle you place your camera changes everything. It’s not just about what looks cool it’s about how it feels. Put the camera low? The person looks powerful. Wide shot you feel distance or loneliness. Close up shot, you feel connected or intense. Every shot tells a different story depending on where you place the camera. That’s the power of framing. 9 easy camera angles for better storytelling👇 📸 Camera angles are all about capturing different feelings and information in a way that moves the story forward in a suspenseful and logical way. Here’s my intention behind each angle used in this video: 1. GROUND LEVEL - Initiate movement towards door after knock 2. POV - Suspenseful approach 3. EXTREME CLOSE UP - Climax suspense/fear looking through peephole 4. PEEPHOLE - Comedic relief of tension 5. LOW ANGLE - Angled up from the door handle, leading into the next close up 6. CLOSE UP - Initiate fast sequence of door opening 7. TOP DOWN - Unconventional perspective that we don’t normally see with our eyes 8. GROUND UP - The reverse of the previous shot (different but feels cohesive) 9. MEDIUM WIDE - Captures context above waist while still focusing on the facial expression 🎧 Sound design also plays a huge role in shaping how these angles feel, but that’s a topic for another video :)
