Building an app is messy, quiet, and full of small wins. Follow our journey as we share the honest behind-the-scenes process of creating Calm Connection.

I’m so excited that our community version is on the way! A great place to share your thoughts and feelings, ask questions, connect. See you there. #gettheapp #community #communitymatters

Your apps talk to thousands of people at once, yet your phone doesn’t melt. The secret you use daily without knowing: a tiny traffic cop called an event loop. 🔁 Most people assume every connection gets its own worker. One calm coordinator waits for doorbells. When a line—your chat, stream, or page—signals “ready,” it wakes, does the small job, and goes back to listening. No spinning plates, just respond-when-ready, so one lane of work can serve thousands. This is why apps feel snappy and batteries last longer even under heavy load. What’s the first app you use that suddenly makes more sense with this picture? 🤔 1️⃣ You already use them without noticing Your phone, browser, and chat apps run an event loop that juggles taps and messages by reacting quickly instead of babysitting each task. 2️⃣ Here's what's really happening under load One thread keeps a checklist of connections, only touching one when data arrives, so idle connections cost basically nothing. 3️⃣ This is where it gets interesting It does quick tasks without waiting, then jumps back to the queue, so thousands of tiny bursts share time without tripping over each other. 4️⃣ The part nobody tells you If something takes too long, you hand it to a helper or break it into chunks, otherwise one slow job stalls the whole party. #EventLoop #TechSimplified #HowItWorks #ScalableSystems #Networking #Performance #Concurrency #SoftwareDesign #EverydayTech

We’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the role technology really plays in society. Not as 'digital transformation' or shiny platforms - but as something more fundamental: tools that genuinely help people, services and systems work better. Our new website and service offer reflects that shift. It’s less about what we make and more about what we enable: meaningful technology designed around real-world needs, not just technical possibility. Our CEO James Kirk has captured that thinking in this piece 👇 https://kaleidoscope.co/insights/meaningful-technology

If you sit down to work and your focus disappears in 5 minutes, try this. In my 3rd year of computer science at UCLA I was: - Studying full‑time - Volunteering / teaching social skills - Going to the gym - Doing improv - Seeing friends Tons of stuff to do, very little time. So I made my phone as boring as possible on purpose. 1) I turned on Grayscale mode. On iPhone: Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Color Filters → turn on → Grayscale. No color, no casino lights. Suddenly real life and the task in front of me felt more interesting than my screen. 2) Ruthless notification audit I only kept notifications for things that truly needed my immediate attention (Uber, deliveries). Everything else: - Social apps - Texts - Random learning/productivity apps → notifications off. As a result, the system of my phone matched my priorities. I chose when to pick it up, instead of being swayed by it. I don’t share many “instant hacks” because most real change is long‑term work. But if you struggle to focus, this one is worth a 7‑day test. If this resonates, comment the one app that derails you the most, and save this so you remember to set it up tonight. May the growth be with you, Ege
