So what actually is “The Cloud”? ☁️ The term “The Cloud” is quite deceptive because it sounds like information is stored in the sky. However, the cloud is just where data is stored, like how marriage certificates are stored in files or folders within a drawer or a building. And like real-life folders, you can choose to look for and open them. In practice, that would be done by double-clicking the file. Fun Fact: Network diagrams in the 1990s used a puffy cloud to represent the Internet’s infrastructure. They exist “out there” beyond the user’s device, like how clouds exist beyond our city, state, or country. What other tech lingo do you find confusing? 😵💫 Let us know in the comments! Cloud isn’t just storage — it’s rented brainpower. 🧠⚡️ Need 100s of computers to edit 1K photos or run an app? Cloud lends them instantly, then takes them back. Pay only for what you use. Scale anytime. 3 pillars: storage, computing, networking. No tech degree needed — like flipping a light switch. Photos “in the cloud”? The Truth About Cloud Vendor Lock-In Are you secretly trapped by your cloud provider? ☁️📉 We keep everything in the cloud, but what happens if they hike prices tomorrow or lock your account? Vendor lock-in is a massive risk for any infrastructure, and getting your data out fast is usually a nightmare. In this video, we look at how to achieve true data portability with Plakar. By packing your data into a self-contained "Kloset" repository, you can seamlessly replicate snapshots from S3 to a local disk or another provider - no format conversions, no complex migrations. The data belongs to you, not the infrastructure. #DevOps #CloudNative #Infrastructure #CloudComputing #TechTips

Cloud feels simple when services deploy successfully. It feels confusing when traffic stops flowing. Most “cloud issues” are actually networking issues. Use this checklist before blaming the cloud 👇 1️⃣ DNS resolution Does the service name resolve correctly? Wrong DNS = slow or broken connections. 2️⃣ Port listening Is your app actually listening on the expected port? Running ≠ reachable. 3️⃣ Security groups / firewalls Is traffic allowed in and out? Cloud blocks by default. 4️⃣ Network routing Are subnets and route tables configured correctly? Wrong routes create silent black holes. 5️⃣ Load balancer health checks Is your instance healthy according to the LB? If health checks fail, traffic never reaches it. 6️⃣ Internal vs public access Are you mixing private IP with public access? Know your boundaries. 7️⃣ Timeouts & retries Some failures are partial. Check logs for timeout patterns. Cloud rarely fails randomly. Traffic just isn’t flowing where you think it is. Networking clarity makes cloud predictable. Save this checklist. You’ll need it one day. #devops #cloud #tech #networking #software

Think it takes weeks to build a private cloud? Nope. Developers built a working one from scratch in 2-3 hours! It's like owning digital land, a VPC container organizing everything privately. When access to key tech is cut off, countries often build their own. Nvidia stopped exporting many chips to China, and the response was clear: set up local chip production. The same logic applies to cloud providers — if you can't rely on a partner, you start building your own capacity. That shift creates incentives for local clouds, more competition, and a push for self-sufficiency. It also raises questions about security, scale, and who pays for the transition. What do you think — should regions invest in independent cloud infrastructure or rely on global providers?
