The biggest publishers all use Cloudflare. The top 20 percent of the internet could start to vanish from AI. Cloudflare is also introducing Pay Per Crawl. This means AI companies will need to pay websites to crawl their data. The top publishers in the world are all already on board with this. War has officially been declared on AI. Before this, if you wanted to crawl websites for a RAG pipeline, you had three options: • Pay for tools like Firecrawl or Apify • Build custom scrapers with Puppeteer • Manage browsers, rate limits, and broken scripts It was messy. Now it’s one request. Submit a single URL to Cloudflare’s /crawl endpoint. It automatically: • Crawls the entire website • Handles rendering • Extracts the content • Returns clean Markdown, HTML, or JSON Ready to plug directly into your AI pipeline. No scripts. No browser automation. No extra infrastructure. For developers building AI apps, this simplifies an entire layer of the stack. Sometimes the biggest innovations are just removing friction. Cloudflare just shipped a /crawl endpoint for Browser Rendering that replaces most of the scraping infrastructure developers maintain by hand. Submit a URL, get back an entire site as clean HTML, Markdown, or structured JSON powered by Workers AI. Open beta, available on both free and paid Workers plans. What the video couldn’t cover: The endpoint is a signed-agent crawler, meaning it self-identifies as a bot and respects robots.txt directives including crawl-delay. It also follows Cloudflare’s AI Crawl Control rules by default, so site owners who have set crawl preferences through Cloudflare’s dashboard have those honored automatically. This makes it one of the few crawling tools that ships with compliance built in rather than bolted on. Incremental crawling deserves a closer look. The modifiedSince and maxAge parameters let you skip pages that haven’t changed or were recently fetched. For production RAG pipelines running on a schedule, this means your Monday crawl only processes what actually changed over the weekend instead of re-fetching thousands of static pages. The static mode option is worth testing before you default to full rendering. Setting render to false skips the headless browser entirely and returns raw HTML. For documentation sites, blogs, and anything server-rendered, this is significantly faster and cheaper. Structured JSON output uses Workers AI to extract content into clean key-value pairs. If you’re feeding crawled content into an embedding pipeline, this removes the HTML parsing step from your stack entirely. Crawl scope controls include depth limits, page count caps, and wildcard URL patterns for include and exclude rules. Automatic page discovery pulls from both sitemaps and in-page links, or you can restrict it to either source. Remember, The endpoint cannot bypass Cloudflare bot detection or captchas.
