always record a hackathon demo video 🎥 one thing i picked up after going to a lot of hackathons is that you should always document and submit a demo video. here’s why: 1️⃣ it serves as backup in case your app crashes. live demos are the priority, but if something seriously bad happens, you’ll have a clean demo video with working features to showcase. 2️⃣ some hackathons have online judges they don’t explicitly tell you about. Having a video of your demo sets you apart from projects that are just explained with text. 3️⃣showcasing to others in the future. Any opportunities that arise where you need to demonstrate skills, you will have a video to pull up. hopefully that was useful! how to prepare for your first hackathon, for complete beginners with no coding experience or tech background two steps to potentially take: 1. install a modern framework + other setups associated onto your computer (in this case, react). And google a youtube tutorial specific to your computer and follow it all the way through 2. Understand how debugging will work. Use stack overflow, github copilot, and chatgpt to handle errors. Paste the error you get into the internet and go to stack overflow first, work through the answers, and continue persevering through the hackathon until you resolve your problem.
