Easy Blending & Segmenting Practice 👉 Move from sounds to words! 1. Choose a simple CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) word containing letter sounds your child has already learned. For example: mat /m/ /a/ /t/ 2. Write each letter of the word on a separate note card or piece of paper (or use letter-sound cards to create the word). 3. Lay out the cards on a table or other surface to create the word. 4. Move the cards apart to separate out the individual sounds. Practice each sound by itself. 5. Then move the cards back together and practice blending the individual sounds together to say the word. 💡 Tip: It’s okay to draw out the individual sounds at first, then demonstrate how you shorten the sounds to smoothly blend them together. ✨ SAVE this tip and SHARE with a friend who has an early reader at home!
