Back at @conballetco! I love working with this company. @jennifer_cafarella_betts gave me one of my first commissions ever back in 2011 and I am eternally grateful. This is my 4th time working with the company and they are stronger than ever. Can’t wait to see how they tackle “Pastoral Symphony” (seen here) and “Elegy.”

🩰 SCB Technique | En Pointe with Scarlett (@schoolofcadenceballet PTP Student) In SCB Technique, we guide dancers to push the heel down into the platform while pulling the tibia proximally away from the metatarsals, promoting ankle decompression and deeper pointe range without overloading the Achilles tendon. This supports closed-chain ankle plantarflexion through active underfoot engagement—building strength in the intrinsic foot muscles and minimizing collapse or over-reliance on the posterior chain. 🔁 This approach aligns with concepts from dynamic joint decompression and “heel-to-tibia spiraling,” rooted in healthy axial load mechanics (see: Brieg, Mechanical Tension in the Nervous System, 1978; Myers, Anatomy Trains, 2020). Rather than yanking the heel toward the calf, we train spiraled resistance through the foot, creating powerful articulation and resilience en pointe. ✨ It’s not about forcing the shape—it’s about activating the pathway. This is how our dancers spend their evenings… and we wouldn’t have it any other way!! The intermediate ballerinas are putting in the work, and it show.
