Cosine (cos) is a trigonometric function that represents the ratio of a triangle’s adjacent side to its hypotenuse in a right triangle. It’s also the x-coordinate of a point on the unit circle for a given angle. #math #cosine #trignometry #learning #animation #reels

The unit circle and what sine and cosine REALLY mean… Consider the radius of the circle which is equal to 1, and then label the angle theta which is between the radius and the x axis of the circle. If you use elementary trigonometry, you will see that the y coordinate as we move along the circumference of the circle is given by sin(theta), while the x coordinate is given by cos(theta). Trigonometric functions are also known as circular functions, and they have many real world applications such as in finance, architecture, physics and engineering. SIN AND COS - MADE EASY 🌟 Sine (sin) and Cosine (cos) They are functions in trigonometry that relate angles to the sides of a right triangle. Sine (sin θ): ratio of the opposite side to the hypotenuse. 👉 sin θ = opposite / hypotenuse Cosine (cos θ): ratio of the adjacent side to the hypotenuse. 👉 cos θ = adjacent / hypotenuse For example, if you have a right triangle with an angle θ: The sin θ tells you how "tall" the triangle is compared to its slant side. The cos θ tells you how "wide" the triangle is compared to its slant side. And the hand trick (shown in your image) is just a memory shortcut for values at special angles (0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 90°). #TrigonometryMadeEasy #MathsTrick #SineAndCosine #LearnMaths #StudyHacks #EasyMaths #SchoolTips #GeometryFun #MathMotivation #STEMLearning

The Law of Cosines(Code link in bio), also known as Al-Kashi’s theorem, is a powerful extension of the Pythagorean theorem for any triangle, not only right-angled ones. In this animation, we explore how the lengths of two sides and the angle between them determine the length of the third side. When a triangle is not a right triangle, simple square rules are no longer enough, and this is where the Law of Cosines becomes essential. Historically, the formula is attributed to the Persian mathematician Jamshid al-Kashi, who used it in the 15th century to solve difficult geometric and astronomical problems. Today, it plays a central role in coordinate geometry, vector analysis, trigonometry, physics, engineering, and navigation. Visually, the idea is simple: start from one side, project another side using the included angle, and measure how far the opposite vertex shifts. This geometric shift is exactly what the cosine term corrects. Whether you are finding unknown sides, solving oblique triangles, or preparing for school and university exams, mastering this theorem connects geometry with trigonometric reasoning in a clean and logical way. #math #mathematics #fyp #trending

The Secret Behind the Curves: Sin, Cos, & Tan Explained! 🌊 Ever wondered why the Sine wave looks the way it does? Or why Tangent shoots off into infinity? This visualization breaks down the "Magic" of the Unit Circle in real-time. 🔍 What you’re seeing: Sine (\sin): Represents the vertical (y-axis) movement as the point travels around the circle. Cosine (\cos): Represents the horizontal (x-axis) movement. Notice how it starts at 1 while Sine starts at 0! Tangent (\tan): The ratio of Sine to Cosine. Watch what happens to the graph when the circle hits 90^\circ and 270^\circ—straight to infinity! 🚀 Math isn't just numbers on a page; it's the language of cycles, sound waves, and planetary orbits. This visual represents the unit circle, and how the value of the sine of theta varies as the angle theta increases. Sine of theta can be thought of as the y coordinate as we move along the unit circle. The reason for this is because the unit circle has a radius of 1 by definition, which is the hypotenuse of the right angled triangle. Now, as we move along the arc of the circle, starting from the coordinate (1,0), our x and y positions change. We can call the angle between the x axis and the hypotenuse theta, and by simple trigonometry we see that the y coordinate is always the sine of theta!
