In 1917, Albert Einstein applied his theory of gravity to the entire cosmos, opening the possibility that the universe could be finite yet unbounded or perhaps infinite beyond all measure. That idea reshaped our sense of reality. The universe may have no edge, no boundary where space simply stops. Like the surface of a sphere extended into higher dimensions, it could continue without end, allowing motion forever without reaching a limit. Or it may be truly infinite, extending endlessly in every direction, containing regions forever beyond our observation. What we can see is only a portion defined by light’s journey through time. Beyond that horizon, space continues unknown, unreachable, and possibly without limit. Infinity is not a distant concept. It may be the structure of existence itself. And in the video, Brian Cox reflects on this profound possibility, revealing how the universe may not simply be vast but fundamentally unending. 🌌✨ Speaker: @profbriancox #space #universe #astronomy #earth #cosmos SPACE SCIENCE

Brian Cox explains one of the biggest unanswered questions in cosmology: Does the universe end… or go on forever? The observable universe alone contains roughly two trillion galaxies. But beyond the part we can see, the universe continues. How far? We don’t know. Measurements suggest the observable universe appears “flat,” much like the Earth appears flat when viewed on small scales. And if the universe is truly flat… it may be infinite. Meaning there may be no edge at all. #space #universe #astronomy #cosmology #science #physics #briancox #cosmos #spacefacts #infinity

🌌 How far is far in the universe? Our home, the Milky Way, is just one galaxy among billions. The Andromeda Galaxy lies about 2.5 million light-years away — and that’s only our nearest giant neighbor. Beyond it are galaxies tens, hundreds, and even billions of light-years distant. Every light-year represents the distance light travels in a whole year — and the universe stretches far beyond what our minds can easily imagine. This scale isn’t just big… ✨ it’s humbling. How small do you feel when you see these cosmic distances? 🌠 • • • • #universe #cosmos #galaxies #spacefacts #astronomy

When astronomers saw this star explode in 2015, the explosion had actually happened 50 million years earlier. The galaxy where it occurred is about 50 million light-years away, meaning the light from that explosion traveled through space for 50 million years before finally reaching Earth. This is why looking deeper into space is like looking back in time. Every distant galaxy, star, or supernova we observe shows us the universe as it was millions or even billions of years ago. In a way, telescopes are time machines, revealing ancient events whose light is only now arriving. This particular explosion is known as SN 2015F, observed in the galaxy NGC 2442, about 50 million light-years away. #space #universe #cosmos #astronomy #astrophysics supernova stars galaxy cosmology spacefacts sciencefacts lightyears deepspace nasa cosmiccuriosity

⬇️Check Caption⬇️ On Miller’s Planet, time flows 61,320 times slower than on Earth due to its proximity to the spinning black hole, Gargantua. • 1 hour on Miller’s Planet = 7 years on Earth. • The planet‘s orbital period is estimated at 1.7 hours, with an age of roughly 200,000 years. Hans Zimmer reflected this in the track Mountains. The ticking sound occurs every 1.25 seconds, which exactly equals one full day passing on Earth. Follow @cosmos.fit_ to witness the future of space.
