For heaver traffic areas, use thicker tiles to prevent cracking. • You can also do this on top of leveled dirt! Normally, a heavier stone like flagstone or similar is used & concrete is used for the joints. • Other grout alternatives would be to use concrete as mentioned above, I'd highly recommend using it for larger outdoor areas & high, heavy traffic. If I had to do it again, I would personally go this route. The chances of cracking are a lot less. Another alternative vs. traditional grouting is polymeric sand to fill the joints, but your joint lines need to meet a specific parameter in width size. You pour, sweep, mist & it sets. • Sealing your design is important for future cleaning, especially with light colored grout. If you want to keep your work pristine, use it. • Altogether, it took about a week to finish from picking up supplies and sealing it. It takes one day to lay the mortar and another day to grout and another day to Seal. Crazy paving 😜 Here’s how we grouted them: 1. Make sure the stone is sealed and clean 2. Use a 3/1 ratio of sand and white Portland cement (3 shovels of white sand, 1 shovel white Portland cement) 3. Mix the sand and cement together in a bucket or barrow (make sure it’s dry) 4. Pour the mix over the cracks in the paving and sweep it in with a broom 🧹 use a smaller brush for the edges 5. Water in the filled gaps using the mist or shower function on your hose (this prevents the sand and cement from moving) 6. Let it set and dry 7. Go over it again if the gaps are too deep #paving #process #satisfying

SAVE + SHARE CRAZY PAVING DIY✨ With the warmer weather just around the corner I thought I resharing the time I used some left over tiles to create the perfect entry porch. Adding this crazy paving lifted the space so much and just added that extra texture and welcoming feeling to the porch. I couldn't been happier on how it turned out and how easy it was to so ✨ Steps below: 1. Pick two types of tiles for a bit of variation. 2. Smash them with a hammer to get those nice organic shapes. 3. Mix outdoor tile adhesive and start applying the pieces randomly, a mix of bigger tiles and smaller bits works best. 4. Once it’s all dry, apply grout made for outdoor use and large gaps. 5. Give it a quick clean while it’s still damp, then once fully dry, clean it again for that final finish.
