뮌헨 구시가지 한복판, 상점들 사이에 숨어있는 <아삼키르헤>는 사실 카톨릭의 의뢰로 지어진 곳이 아닙니다.⛪️ 1733년, 조각가와 화가인 <아삼 형제>가 자신들의 사비를 털어 순전히 자신들의 영혼과 교인들을 위한 예배당으로 세운 공간이죠. 덕분에 일반 카톨릭 건축의 룰 같은 건 안중에도 없었습니다. ☠️ 바닥 면적 22×8미터, 작다면 작은 공간이지만 형제는 가능한 모든 표면을 빈틈없이 채워 넣었습니다. 안에 들어서면 공간이 수직으로 3가지 층으로 나뉜다는 걸 느낍니다. 아래로 갈수록 어두워지는데, 신도들이 앉는 가장 아래 자리는 의도적으로 어둡게 설계되어 있고, 이는 세속적 고통을 상징합니다.💔 중간은 황제의 영역으로 흰색과 파란색이 들어오고, 가장 위는 신과 영원에 바쳐지며 가장 밝습니다. 바닥에서 천장으로 시선을 옮기는 것만으로 인간의 고통에서 신의 영광으로 이어지는 수직적 서사를 체험하게 되는 셈이죠.⚡️ 한 가지 더. 이 예배당은 고해성사를 위한 교회로 설계되었습니다. 고해소마다 죽음, 지옥, 심판, 천국의 장면들이 조각되어 있는데요. 참회와 죄의식을 전제로 한 공간인 만큼, 어두운 느낌은 메시지 자체였죠.⬛️ 그리고 입구의 해골 조각상. 금빛 해골이 생명의 실을 가위로 자르려는 자세를 취하고 있습니다. 메멘토 모리, "너는 반드시 죽는다"는 경고를 공간의 첫 인상으로 배치한 것이죠.💀 화려한 금박과 죽음의 이미지가 충돌하는 이 조합이 아삼키르헤의 본질입니다. 빛과 어둠, 구원과 공포가 동시에 작동하는 공간이니까요.🏆👼💀 📍 Sendlinger Str. 32, 80331 München. 매일 오전 9시~오후 6시 운영, 입장 무료. _ Curator 성민 ⁂Inspire Everyday @curation_club 팔로우
