The Dream. Irene Cara continues her theme of following one’s aspirations with the release of the fourth single from her album 'What a Feelin''. 'The Dream (Hold on to Your Dream)' reached No. 37 on the Billboard Hits charts in 1984. The track was also the theme song for the hit comedy film 'D.C. Cab', starring Mr. T, in which Cara makes a cameo appearance. This appearance is also featured in the song’s music video. @theirenecara #IreneCara #DCcab #MrT #80sMusic #80sNostalgia #ClassicSoundtrack #MovieMusic #PopMusic #80sPop #Throwback #WhatAFeelin #RememberMyName

Adolfo “Shabba-Doo” Quiñones was a west coast legend. He was a regular at Radiotron, where “Breakin’ ‘n’ Enterin’” was filmed. He was, along with Fred “Rerun” Berry from “What’s Happening!!”, an original member of “The Lockers,” a dance crew started by Don “Campbellock” Campbell, the creator of locking, and legendary choreographer Toni Basil (“Hey Mickey”) in 1971. The Lockers performed on “Soul Train,” “Midnight Special,” Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, “The Tonight Show,” and had a legendary performance on the third episode of SNL, hosted by the late, great Rob Reiner. They were even animated in Ralph Bakshi’s 1982 film, “Hey Good Lookin’.” So, by the time we meet Shabba-Doo in this clip, he’s a seasoned pro, and his crew is made up of Anna Sanchez, Boogaloo Shrimp, Pop N’ Taco, and Lil Coco. (More on them later.) But Quiñones wanted more. He really wanted to get something started, was trying to get the West Coast movement going, and he had an idea to try and get African-American documentarian Topper Carew to make a movie about the scene. “I actually put that together and sold the idea to Topper Carew over at Rainbow Productions,” he told Chops Angeles in 2015. “That documentary wasn’t the first West Coast hip-hop documentary, it was the first hip-hop documentary period. Everything else came after that.” “Breakin’ ‘n’ Enterin’” was a massive hit (to the right audience) and inspired the film “Breakin’,” which featured Shabba-Doo as “Ozone.” It would also feature several other performers from the documentary, including Michael “Boogaloo Shrimp” Chambers as “Turbo,” Bruno “Pop N’ Taco” Falcon as “Electro Rock 1,” and Ice-T as ( I shit you not) “Rap Talker.” 🤣 Carew would go on to create the cult classic “DC Cab” and the iconic sitcom “Martin.” Tomorrow: A look at the mindblowing Boogaloo Shrimp. #popculturehistorian #breakdancing #hiphop #shabbadoo #breakin

1983 interview between Bobbie Wygant and Mr. T. She immediately goes into his “disaster shoes” and he responds very eloquently of how they keep him humble. This interview was for him promoting DC Cab but she spent the first few minutes basically questioning his appearance. #mrt #80smrt #80stv #80sinterviews #80spopculture #bobbiewygantarchive #nostalgia #childhoodmemories #80sfashion #80scelebrities
