My mind was a constant battlefield and I thought that meant something was wrong with me 7. I survived things that should have destroyed me because God had a purpose on my life 8. I felt everything deeply and loved even deeper and I used to call that a flaw 9. God spoke to me through dreams, discernment, and revelation in ways the world could not understand The enemy attacks most where God intends to use you most. In college I discerned becoming a nun—I prayed greatly about it and attended a vocational discernment retreat with a convent. I was so happy when I pictured my life spent in sweet community with other women who love Jesus!! While I ended up falling in love with a wonderful guy shortly after I graduated, I’m so grateful for the time I spent taking this calling to religious life seriously. The joy of the sisters I discerned with touched my heart enormously, and I want to carry their model of Jesus’ love for the rest of my life. Sometimes, what’s best for us is what we least expect. There are mysteries of God that cannot be processed by intellect alone, because spiritual things are only discerned by the Spirit. You can build systems, outlines, and content, but you cannot manufacture an encounter. You cannot code glory. You cannot automate the voice of God. The natural will always have limits.
