If you’ve ever dived on a healthy coral reef, you know they’re anything but quiet — full of fish grunts, shrimp crackles, and constant signs of life. @whoi.ocean researchers turned these sounds into a restoration tool. By playing recordings of healthy reef soundscapes through underwater speakers at degraded reef sites, they found that coral larvae settled at significantly higher rates compared to control areas. In some cases, even up to 7× more settlement near the playback speakers! Day 1 | El Nido → Coron Day one started with 15 strangers, one boat, and the full of excitement. The sea became our highway 🌊 we dived, snorkelled ,swam till our arms said okay enough, and kayaked between islands. Lunch was on the go 🍲 salty skin, messy hair, sun-kissed chaos, and food that tasted elite because we worked for it.
