more doctor strikes… 🩺 as nothing has changed! This week marks another round of doctor strikes for resident doctors in the UK. The dates of these strikes will be 14th November to 19th November. 📆 I still remember striking for the first time myself a couple of years ago when I was working in the hospital as a resident doctor. We were striking for pay restoration as well as just wanting improved working conditions as since 2008 we had huge pay cuts and we were also feeling so undervalued as doctors and the retention of doctors was decreasing. 😪 Since the start of these strikes pay has improved for doctors but still not restored to where it should be. And these changes do not go far enough, even with the expansion of training places, so many resident doctors would be left WITHOUT A JOB? 🤯 We need more training places for doctors, so doctors can continue their training and we can provide more and better services for patients and improve overall patient care. Without this, the profession is going to struggle to recruits and retain doctors and impact patient care even more.❤️‍🩹 As someone who left the NHS due to the negative impact it was having on my health, this shows that this is a real life situation that doctors are leaving! And every day I get messages from people thinking of doing the same…😓 The NHS is struggling, doctors are struggling, patients are struggling.
