Personal/Family: (e.g., "Take one international trip per year with the family.") Legacy/Community: (e.g., "Expand my dog fostering to a permanent setup or specific rescue contribution.") 3. The "Rule of 1s" for Scannability To keep a five-year goal from feeling overwhelming, break it down using this logic: 5 Years: The Big Vision (The "North Star"). 1 Year: The Milestone (What must happen by next January?). 1 Quarter: The Project (What am I building in the next 90 days?). 1 Month: The Habit (What am I doing every day to get there?). 4.
