🐉 This is Leroy, my dragon tree!! Here’s the Leroy Lore: My co-worker gifted this dragon tree to me a few years back when he was retiring. And my guy looked like he had not been repotted in decades so I took care of him! Turns out- this tree is OVER 40 YEARS OLD! Who knows how many owners there have been, or how long he had been an office plant. But I’m so lucky to have Leroy as a statement plant in my home! This tree has been with me through a job change, moving into my first apartment, and now in our first home. I really thought my Dragon tree was recovering after the repot 3 weeks ago… But when I checked today, the trunk was completely mushy - stem rot had already taken hold. One stem still felt firm, so I cut it back to healthy tissue, dipped it in rooting gel, and placed it into a Lucky Buddha prop station. 🤞😅 As my son always says: Never back down. Never give up. Dragon Tree 🐉🌳 Forest (Dracaena Marginata) gets heavy structural pruning. First time featuring this Dracaena Forest in a reel About 3 years ago before ever thinking of starting this Channel I began the transformation of this old and neglected Dracaena former houseplant. I gave it a severe root pruning and repotting into the current pot it resides in good bonsai soil. The following year it got a similar heavy structural pruning where I reduced the tree in half. It had a full year of unimpeded growth. By far the tallest bonsai I have in my collection. Today's procedure was supposed to be a simple reduction of the leaves but after I did that I noticed it started to get too long. I made the decision to give it a heavy pruning. The second stage was working on the ground cover which is some really overgrown sedum. So overgrown in fact that I lost a Baby Groot and frog toy too bad I cut the lil guys foot as you see in the reel.
