Dragon's Blood trees native to the Canary Islands. One of the oldest living species and one of the most mysterious tree of all, the Dragon's Blood Tree, or Dracaena Cinnabri, is a plant native to the small Socotra archipelago in the Indian Ocean, near Northeast Africa. Its name comes from the red resin called cinnabar, extracted from the leaves and bark of the trunk and branches. Many myths surround this rare tree. The local population uses the resin as a remedy for fevers and ulcers, varnish for violins, lipsticks, or even to freshen breath or as toothpaste! Because it is believed to be the "dragon's blood", it is also used in magic and alchemy rituals for 'protection', 'love', among others.
