When choosing portraits to paint, I most often get inspired most by interesting and dramatic lighting. My digital art process starts off with a rough sketch followed by blocking in color to help find my composition. One of my favorite things about digital art is that I can refine my sketch at any point in the process allowing me to successfully capture a person’s likeness without having to do so as part of my very first step. For me, these three things always ensure that I am creating the most successful work of art possible: 1. dramatic lighting 2. beautiful colors that balance well 3.
