Then as you pull upward, gradually release pressure. Now the line goes thick to thin. That single movement creates the feeling of grass naturally tapering at the tip. Do it enough times and the scene starts to grow itself. Most artists draw grass with the same pressure the whole way through… and it looks stiff. But when the line changes weight, it feels alive. One artist told me: “I didn’t realize how much line pressure mattered until I tried this. My plants instantly looked better.” That’s the shift. You’re not just drawing blades of grass… you’re controlling how the line behaves. If that doesn’t feel natural yet, that’s exactly the kind of skill the drills are designed to build.
