Here’s a super simple breakdown of how I perfect my drone videos. I always start by recording in d-cine and converting my footage back to a rec709 look. (If you record in normal colour you can skip this) I follow this by making some basic exposure and split toning adjustments which affect the highlights and shadows. Once this is done I make some local masks to affect specific areas in my shot before hitting export. Think of it like slow camera moves, not flying. Add vertical motion: Don’t just move forward. Combine slight upward or downward movement while flying to create more dynamic, cinematic shots. Use reveal shots: Start behind an object like trees, rocks, or walls, then slowly reveal your subject. This builds curiosity and feels much more intentional. Lock your subject in frame: Use your gimbal to keep your subject centred while moving sideways or backwards. It creates that clean, professional tracking look. Keep your horizon clean: Always check your horizon line before filming. A slightly tilted horizon can instantly make your footage feel off.
