If you want to be eco-friendly, skip artificial turf. It leeches microplastics and damages the health of the soil. Instead, in dry and hot climates you can go with a variety of different options. Here I chose buffalo grass. This California specific variety was bred by UC Davis for drought tolerant capabilities and resiliency in the dry summers in places like Arizona, California, and Nevada. It uses 75% less water, can thrive with zero mowing, and is super soft on the feet. It spreads via surface runners so it’s not aggressive like Bermuda grass, and it loves the summer heat!
