grow easter grass in eggshells 🥚🌱 This is one of our favorite yearly spring traditions— they’re fun as a part of a centerpiece, given out as gifts or as a fun project for kids. You can expect the grass to sprout within about 3 days and it will reach maturity between about 5-8 days, so *I recommend planting these about a week before you need them. You can also soak the seeds overnight (or even for an hour or so before planting) to speed up the process. As the grass continues of grow you can simply trim off the tops and allow them to re-grow again. Materials: eggshells, wheatgrass seeds, organic potting soil Instructions: - Add a drainage hole to the bottom of each eggshell - Fill your shell three-quarters of the way with potting soil - Add a dense single layer of wheatgrass seeds - Cover seeds with a thin layer of soil and mist generously - Place on a brightly lit windowsill and gently mist the soil generously daily. Keep the soil moist at all times. #lowwaste #springcrafts #upcycledcrafts #naturecrafts #eastergrass #eastercrafts #easterdiy

🌱🐇✨The sprouting of new shoots is a beautiful image to bring to our children at Easter time. How magical to awake on Easter morning to the Easter Bunny/ Hares trail of munching mess in the Easter Grass ✨ I started this tradition when my eldest was 1 and fell in love with how something so very simple could bring more excitement than all the chocolate that was on offer ✨🌱🐇 TO GATHER >>> 🌱 Wheat grain seeds 🌱 Eggs shells, old tea cups, egg cups or bowls 🌱 Soil or Coir Peat (if you’d like your easter grass to be sprouting in a few days…works a treat!) 🌱 Small watering can or spray bottle to keep near the seeds BEFORE PLANTING >>> 🌱 SOAK YOUR SEEDS! 24- 48 hours before planting, I begin soaking the wheat seeds in a glass jar of spring water. During this period I wash & refresh the water at least twice. TIME TO PLANT >>> 🌱 I’ve always made this a special activity that I do with my children. Remember that a little bit of prep from you will mean lots of magic for them. >>> If using the Coir Peat, make sure you soak in a little bucket or container with lots of water….this can then be used just like soil to plant your wheat seeds into. 🌱 Layer the containers & egg shells with soil or coir peat and plant the soaked seeds. Make sure the seeds are then covered with a little extra soil or coir peat. ☀️ Place them somewhere with lots of sunshine but sheltered from the weather. 🌱 Your children now have the very important work of watering and tending to the sprout daily to make sure the Easter Hare has something yummy to eat when he comes visiting. A little spray bottle or jug will work well. ✨Enjoy the magic of preparation…..I’m quite sure you’ll have very excited children each morning as they go and check how the sprouts are growing! Save this post for next year 🌱🌱🌱

This book changed how I view Easter 🌱 Years ago my mom gifted me the book “Celebrating a Christ-Centered Easter” by Emily Belle Freeman. Reading about her tradition of growing Easter grass was when I realized I was missing out on making my Easter celebration something truly meaningful. At the beginning of Holy Week last year, my kids and I planted a resurrection garden for the first time. Having that anticipation and visual of hope breaking through the darkness of the soil made our Easter so special, and I’m so excited to do it again this year 💛 📖 Comment “BOOK” and I’ll send you the link to “Celebrating a Christ-Centered Easter” - there’s even an adapted version especially for children, which we all love reading together every Easter season! Holy Week starts this weekend with Palm Sunday on the 29th, and each day this week I’m going to be sharing our family’s favorite Holy Week traditions that are fun, easy, and focused on Christ. It’s so nice to grow something GREEN this time of year💚 Wheat grass might be the easiest thing to grow indoors and there are so many uses for it! We used our pressed flower jars, but next we will grow it in a larger container for Easter basket grass! I love the idea of using this as an alternative to plastic Easter grass. I also love that you can let it grow, cut it and use it in smoothies, and it will continue to grow💚 Wheatgrass is low in calories but high in nutrients, including antioxidants such as glutathione, vitamin C, and vitamin E. Antioxidants fight free radicals in the body, reducing oxidative stress and protecting against health conditions like arthritis, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases. You can’t often say that decor also serves as a healthy snack, but this dual purpose spring activity checks both boxes ✔️ ✔️ #eastergrass #nontoxic #diyeaster #easterdecor #diyeasterbasket #diyhome #springcrafts #springactivitiesforkids

Eggshell seedlings 🌱 🥚 ...if you have been collecting the @woolworths_au discovery garden seeds here is the perfect way to convert them into little Easter gifts ! Simply plants the seeds into the empty eggshells and nurture them into sprouting seedlings . You can then package up a set of them in an egg carton which would be the perfect Easter gift for a teacher! Then when you are ready to plant them simply crack open the bottom of the eggshell and plant the whole thing! The eggshell will actually add extra calcium nutrients to your garden 🪴 . Now would be the perfect time to plant your seeds to have them ready for Easter gifts !

The Resurrection Garden ✝️🪴🤍 Comment “Garden” to shop! 🔗 Supplies Used: - Medium-sized planter (mine is 12 inches wide) - Potting mix - Trowel - Gardening gloves - 6 inch pot - Forest moss - Decorative rocks - One large river rock - Small fern - Twine (or hot glue) - Scissors - 2 sticks - Spray bottle Directions: - Add soil to the pot. Leave room for your plant and small pot (tomb). - Put the plant and tomb into the large pot. - Add in more soil to fill in the gaps. I also fill about 1/3 of the tomb with soil. - Pat down the soil to create a smooth surface. - Add small rocks leading to the tomb to create a path. - Use two sticks to make a cross. I tie them together with twine. You could also use a dab of hot glue. - Add a large rock by the tomb to represent the stone that was rolled away. - Add moss on top of the pot and empty soil. We use a spray bottle to make it wet which helps it stay in place. In the past, we have used wheat grass seeds and they sprout very quickly (just a couple days). #resurrectiongarden #easter #christcenteredmotherhood

🌾 Easy Wheatgrass Method 1. Soak: 4-8 hours. Add 1 tsp of 3% peroxide per 1L of water to prevent mold. 2. Prep: Rinse well and spread on coco coir/paper towel/jute mat (don’t crowd them!). 3. Weight: This is key. Add a 1kg weight on top for 2-3 days until the sprouts start pushing the lid up. This builds strong roots. 4. Environment: Keep it cool. Wheatgrass dislikes heat. 5. Light: Move to a sunny spot once you see sprouts. Watch them turn vibrant green! 🌱 Why Wheatgrass? It’s a powerhouse of chlorophyll, vitamins A, C, and E. Perfect for your morning shots or smoothies. Happy growing! 🌿 . . . #wheatgrass #microgreens #indoorgarden #slowliving #wellness #urbangardening #mybackyard #backyard

Ornamental grasses can be grown from seed🌱.This is Mexican feather grass, a great grass to fill a hot dry spot in your garden. It requires very little water once established and adds movement in your garden when theres a breeze in the air. #gardening #gardeninglife #mygarden #plants #gardeninspo
