Comment ‘MORE’ to know more about how we can contribute more towards our environment Urban green spaces are crucial for cities. They cool cities by providing shade, clean air by absorbing carbon dioxide and filtering pollutants. They also provide habitat for wildlife and support pollinators. Urban green spaces can be a small local park, a rooftop terrace garden or a balcony garden or the trees near our homes. In association with @climatedontchange & @civicstudios

What makes a city truly livable? Is it more buildings… or more trees? 🌳🏙️ A well-planned city is not just about infrastructure — it’s about balance between urban growth and urban forests. Trees are silent climate warriors. They reduce greenhouse gases, cool the city, improve air quality, and create healthier living spaces for people. In this insightful conversation, Dr. Vijay Moras (Trustee, Center for Advanced Learning, Mangalore)** explains how arboriculture and urban tree management play a critical role in building climate-resilient, sustainable, and future-ready cities. If cities protect their trees today, they protect their people tomorrow. 🌱 🎥 Watch the full podcast here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtWJWgadNDg] Because the future of cities… grows from the roots. 🌿 [ urban tree management, sustainable city planning, arboriculture, urban forestry, climate resilient cities, urban ecology, green city development, tree conservation, urban canopy, environmental sustainability ] #UrbanForestry #SustainableCities #Arboriculture #GreenCityPlanning #UrbanTrees

Starting soon with a New Urban Pocket Forest of 6000 trees with focus on Fruits and Medicinal Plants. "Urban Pocket Forest" is an initiative by environmentalist Subhajit Mukherjee to create dense mini-forests in small urban spaces, primarily in cities like Mumbai. The goal is to improve air quality, enhance biodiversity, and provide a "zen space" for city dwellers in a compact and cost-effective way.  Core Concept The Urban Pocket Forest concept focuses on utilizing minimal space, often as little as 100 square feet, within existing urban environments.  Location Flexibility: These mini-forests can be established in various places such as housing societies, offices, hospitals, and colleges. Biodiversity: The project aims to create a green space filled with fruits and flowers, using native species suitable for the local climate. Accessibility: Mukherjee encourages a do-it-yourself (DIY) approach, offering guidance and site visits to help others replicate the model. Environmental Benefits: By planting dense native species, the forests aim to mimic natural ecosystems, helping to combat air pollution and support local wildlife.

Be part of the initiative. Join us. Link in bio🔗 Everyone talked about what Bengaluru was losing. We focused on what it could become. While conversations continued, we stepped outside and planted 1.5 lakh saplings across the city. And here’s the truth this is open to every single person. No fees. No conditions. You show up with energy, you put your hands in the soil, and you leave the city greener than you found it. If you believe Bengaluru deserves better, don’t just say it. TREE CITIES OF THE WORLD BEGIN FROM HOME 🌳 Every great green city begins with a single tree. Not in a distant forest, but right outside our homes, streets, schools, and neighborhoods. Plant a tree. Protect a tree. Care for the trees already standing. When every home nurtures trees, cities transform into living landscapes that provide shade, clean air, biodiversity, and wellbeing. Tree Cities of the World do not start in policy documents. They begin in our homes and communities. 🌿 Let us grow cities that breathe. #TreeCitiesOfTheWorld #UrbanForestry #LivingLandscapes #GreenCities #PlantProtectPreserve NatureInCities UrbanNature

Today, we planted just three trees in this spot, but it took more than an hour. Not because planting is difficult, but because the soil was buried under plastic waste and concrete. This place had also been used as a waste-burning spot before. We had to dig nearly 1 feet deep to reach healthy soil. First, we separated plastic from the soil. Then we cleaned the land, added fresh soil, planted the trees, and finally watered them. This is the reality of our cities: even the soil is polluted, and plastic is everywhere. If we want green spaces, we must first fight against pollution. Tree planting is not just about planting trees, it is about restoring the environment we have damaged. Soil pollution is a critical but often overlooked dimension of urban environmental degradation. The accumulation of plastic waste, construction debris, and toxic residues alters the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soil. It reduces soil fertility, disrupts microbial communities essential for nutrient cycling, and limits the soil’s capacity to retain water and support vegetation. Moreover, pollutants can leach into groundwater and enter the food chain, posing serious risks to public health and urban biodiversity. Without restoring soil quality, sustainable urban greening and ecological resilience remain unattainable. Be responsible in daily life, join community actions, stop plastic pollution, care for the soil, protect green spaces, and demand environmental justice. . . . #55Kodomtola #DhakaAlreadySuffering #EnvironmentalJustice #SaveGreenOfDhaka #RestoreEnvironment StopPlasticPollution
