Just flown into Ibiza and experienced the new EES system… so here’s exactly what happens 👇✈️ If you’re travelling to Europe soon, this is what to expect: 1️⃣ Head to the self-service kiosks when you arrive 2️⃣ Scan your passport 3️⃣ Follow the screen prompts 4️⃣ Have your photo taken 📸 5️⃣ If you’re 12+, you’ll also need to scan your fingerprints 👶 Children under 12 just do the photo (no fingerprints) Then you head over to border control where they may check everything over… 👉 and then scan your passport again at the eGate That’s it—but it definitely takes longer than the old passport stamp system ⏳ 💡 Top tip: allow extra time, especially if you’re travelling with kids or anyone who may feel overwhelmed by new processes- staff are there to help and some airports do have family lanes Save this so you know what to expect before you travel ✈️💛 Follow me for real-life, family-friendly travel tips (especially if you’re navigating travel with neurodiverse kids) #travel #neurodiverse #autism #holiday

Avrupa’ya girişte yeni sistem: Entry/Exit System (EES) ✈️🇪🇺 Biz Üsküp aktarmalı olarak İtalya’ya gittik ve 26 Ocak’ta ilk kez bu pasaport kaydını yaptık. Bari havalimanı küçük olmasına rağmen Türkçe dil seçeneği vardı diğer havalimanlarında da olacaktır diye düşünüyorum. 🙌 Bulunduğumuz noktada sıra oldukça azdı, bu yüzden toplamda 10 dakika bile sürmedi. Aslında Pasaportlu işlem süresi 3 dakikayı geçmiyor. Hem yeşil passport ile ben hemde Bordo passport ile arkadaşım kolayca geçtik 🥰😊 Sistem yeni olduğu için yine de pasaport kontrolünden geçtik. Genel olarak hızlı ve pratik bir süreçti. 👉 İşlem esnasında sorulan sorular: 1. Yanınızda 12 yaşından küçük biriyle seyahat ediyor musunuz? 2. İtalya’ya geliş amacınız nedir? 3. Kalış süreniz ne kadar? 4. Dönüş biletiniz var mı? 5. Yanınızda ne kadar para var? 6. Kredi/banka kartınız var mı? 7. Beyan ettiğiniz parayı kanıtlayabilir misiniz? 8. Nerede konaklayacaksınız? 9. Your dreamy European summer … could turn into a cruel summer if you don’t plan this right 😅 The new EU Entry/Exit System (EES) officially rolls out April 10, 2026—but travelers have already started using them and have dealt with delays at major European airports. ✈️ If your first stop in Europe is a connection and you’re NOT an EU/EEA/Swiss citizen, then you’ll go through: ✈️ Passport scan ✈️ Facial recognition ✈️ Fingerprints … your first point of entry into the EU is where you go through the EES kiosk. And that’s where delays are happening with many reports of missed connecting flights.😩 👉 My advice? Here’s what you actually need to know 👇 ✔️ Who it applies to: If you’re entering Europe as a tourist (short stay) — whether you’re an NRI, Indian passport holder, OCI, or a visa-free traveler (UK/US) — EES applies to you 🛂 ✔️ What will happen at the border: 🔵 Your passport gets scanned 🔵 Your face + fingerprints are taken (first time only) 🔵 Your entry/exit is recorded digitally 🔵 Your 90/180 days stay is tracked automatically 📌 Kids under 12? Exempt from fingerprinting ❌ Who it DOESN’T apply to: If you live in an EU country (like the Netherlands 🇳🇱) and hold a valid residence permit — you’re not treated as a tourist → No 90/180 rule → Different lane/process at the border ⚠️ Things to know: • There may be longer queues initially at some airports (especially during rollout) • Your stay will be tracked digitally, so overstays are easier to detect • Less room for error — always keep track of your 90/180 days 🚨 What’s coming next: ETIAS — a pre-travel authorisation system for visa-free travelers (US, UK, etc.) — is expected to launch later in 2026. O que é o EES (Entry/Exit System) • A partir de 12 de outubro de 2025, começa o uso progressivo do EES para registrar de forma eletrônica (em vez de carimbar) os cruzamentos de fronteira para nacionais de fora da UE/Schengen (não-EU) que ficam por até 90 dias em 180 dias.  • No EES, ao entrar ou sair, você terá que fornecer: 1. dados do passaporte (ou documento de viagem) 2. fotografia facial 3. impressões digitais (para pessoas com 12 anos ou mais, salvo exceções)  • Durante o período de transição (até 10 de abril de 2026), os carimbos nos passaportes ainda poderão continuar em uso em alguns casos, enquanto o sistema vai sendo gradualmente ativado nos pontos de fronteira.  • Após 10 de abril de 2026, a meta é que os carimbos deixem de ser usados (“abolidos”) para quem está sob o regime do EES.  • O objetivo é modernizar o controle de fronteiras, permitir uma verificação mais confiável de quem está “overstay” (ultrapassou o prazo permitido de 90 dias), reduzir fraudes de identidade, e agilizar o fluxo nos aeroportos. #temdetutto #italia #imigrantesbrasileiros #aeroportos #europa #viagememfamília

So a quick recap for you: 🇪🇺 WHAT IS EES?! 🇪🇺 EES stands for Entry/Exit System and it’s a new digital border system that’s replacing passport stamps as a way of tracking non-EU nationals who are coming in and out of the Schengen zone. 🇪🇺 WHAT’S THE SCHENGEN ZONE? 🇪🇺 It’s 29 countries in Europe - basically, it’s gonna impact your travel to most of Europe. The three key places who aren’t doing EES are the UK, Ireland and Cyprus. 🇪🇺 WHAT DOES EES INVOLVE? 🇪🇺 You’ll be asked for a face scan, fingerprints and you could be asked some additional questions about your trip as well - such as where you’re staying, how long you’re staying, the purpose of your trip and whether you have enough funds. Whilst they said this digitisation would ‘speed things up’, the reality is it’s been slowing things down quite a bit… 🇪🇺 IS THERE AN APP TO SPEED THIS UP? 🇪🇺 If you’re travelling to Sweden and Portugal, there is an app called ‘Travel to Europe’ where you can pre-register with but as you saw here, Porto weren’t accepting that data yet! 🇪🇺 HASN’T THIS BEEN IN PLACE FOR A WHILE ALREADY? 🇪🇺 It was supposed to be gradually rolled out over the last six months so you may have experienced it already but as of 10th April, it’s mandatory EVERYWHERE. Or at least, it should be!!
