Not my usual content but due to its ghostly tales I thought I'd share with you my recent adventure to Tewkesbury Abbey. It's been a few years since I've been inside but this place is steeped in tales of ghostly monks and medieval soldiers. In the distance you can see the 'bloody meadow' where The Battle of Tewkesbury took place all the way back in 1471 during The War of The Roses. Many have heard screams, believed to be that of the some 1000 men slaughtered in the battle, as well as a phantom coffin being carried out of the Abbey doors. This place would be impossible to investigate, however, the guys and I could check out the meadow on the anniversary of the battle. Again, environmental factors would make an investigation next to impossible for what is likely like looking for a needle in 1000 haystacks. Residual energy? Active hauntings? Imagination? Who knows... anyway, enjoy this little snippet filmed for my drone channel. . . . #projectentity #goingbeyondtheveil #letsfindthetruthtogether #hauntedtewkesburyabbey #1471

Ellerton Priory sits down in Swaledale, close to Marrick - the sort of place that makes you slow down, even if you only get a brief look. It began as a small Cistercian nunnery, and what survives now is a mix of low earthworks and stubborn fragments of the priory church. What I like here is the contrast - wild valley, quiet ruins, and just enough left to spark the “how did this all fit together?” questions. Historic England’s scheduling covers far more than the standing stone, including traces of fishponds and a wider worked landscape tied to the priory. Worth knowing - there’s no public access to the ruins themselves, and it’s generally a roadside view, so it’s one to treat with respect (and a bit of caution with the road). #NorthernPerspectives #fblifestyle #Swaledale

St. Mary’s Church in Goudhurst, Kent, is a historic 12th-century church (first recorded in 1119) situated on a high ridge with expansive views, often acting as a focal point for the village. Known for its 14th-century tower, unique Culpepper family monuments, and a 1747 battle against smugglers, the church has been a landmark for centuries.  #gouldhurst #kent #history #photography

Have you ever seen a building like this before? One of the reasons why I love follies like these ones at Rendlesham is that they come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes. While I much prefer the Woodbridge lodge with its fantastical Gothick revival forms, the Ivy Lodge is equally interesting. The Ivy Lodge, built as a ruined style gatehouse, may actually contain medieval fabric as it is said that it was built using stone from a nearby ruined monastery: Butley Abbey.

In the misty lowlands of Somerset, where the Levels flood and fog curls around ancient hills, stands Glastonbury Tor — a lonely rise crowned by the tower of St Michael. Locals have long believed this hill is more than a landmark; it is a doorway between worlds. #GlastonburyTor #Glastonbury #Somerset #VisitSomerset #ExploreSomerset #SouthWestEngland #VisitEngland #LoveGreatBritain #UKTravel #LandscapePhotography #NaturePhotography #MoodyBritain #UKScenery #SunriseLovers #GoldenHourMagic #MistyMorning #SkyLovers #EpicViews #SpiritualJourney #AncientSites #MythAndMagic

A short video of Fountains Abbey in that early morning light mist - the kind that softens everything and makes the ruins feel even bigger and quieter at the same time. This was founded in 1132 by monks who left St Mary’s Abbey, York, and it grew into one of the richest and most powerful Cistercian monasteries in England. Even in ruins you can see the scale they built to - a working religious community that ran land, water and industry as much as prayer. Then came the Dissolution in 1539, and the abbey was shut down and stripped, leaving the shell that’s become one of the most iconic monastic sites in the country. With mist in the valley and low light on the stone, it’s easy to see why it sticks in your head. #NorthernPerspectives #FountainsAbbey #NorthYorkshire #Ripon #Cistercian #fblifestyle

📍Tupholme Abbey Founded in the mid 12th century by Gilbert and Alan de Neville as a Premonstratensian monastery, part of a cluster of religious houses that grew along the River Witham. The abbey flourished for centuries until Henry VIII’s Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1536, after which it was gradually dismantled, leaving only fragments, most famously the surviving refectory wall. Well worth a visit if you like a bit of history 😍

This is a remarkably preserved building in the Cotswolds with origins dating back roughly 1,000 years to the late Saxon or early Norman period. St Michael’s Church in in Duntisbourne Rouse features a rare combination of late Saxon masonry and a unique 12th century Norman crypt built into the hillside. The building evolved slowly over the centuries, adding a medieval chancel, 13th century wall paintings, and a distinctive saddleback tower in 1587. Remarkably unaltered by modern restoration, it remains one of England's most authentic examples of early parish architecture.
