Will deleting your EGR cook your engine⁉️🔥 The EGR is active during low to moderate throttle conditions to reduce emissions by recirculating exhaust gases and lowering combustion temperatures. But, at wide open throttle such as on the motorway, hill climbs and towing heavy loads the engine demands maximum power so the EGR system shuts off, for two main reasons; 1. Recirculating exhaust gases during high power demand would reduce oxygen availability, negatively affecting performance. 2. Combustion temperature and pressure are already optimised for power output without the EGR. Since the EGR is inactive at wide open throttle, deleting it doesn’t directly impact engine temperature during sustained high-speed driving.
