Hi to our new followers, let me introduce myself 👋 I’m Eithne, I’ve been a doctor for 36 years and absolutely love it. I work full time in aesthetic medicine in Dublin. I have a keen interest and background in women’s health. I’m not a menopause expert but I try to keep up as much as possible in this field. I will link some amazing doctors who are menopause experts below. My content is based on my personal experiences and my working life. I see people who are concerned about sun damage, and who are looking to reduce some of the skin changes that happen with the passage of time, illness, injury or conditions like acne and rosacea. My work is subtle and safety is a priority. These are completely optional treatments and some people choose to have them; others have no interest all, and that’s fine. I’m from Waterford and did seven years in medical school in Cork, and then spent 5 years in the North of England for GP training. I took a year out to look after my mum Judy who was terminally ill at the time- that was precious. 🥰 I worked as a GP in London for ten years and then moved home in 2004. I started training with Botulinum toxin, laser, dermal fillers and other treatments in 2007 and continue to study this field. For many years I’ve taught doctors, dentists and nurses in aesthetic medicine, including some teaching work on behalf of Allergan. I combined GP and aesthetic work for many years and now work full time in aesthetic work. I returned to GP work during Covid with my ex-husband who is a doctor too. We get on well and we’re divorced with two sons age 27 and 30. I can’t give individual medical advice as it’s not safe and there are too many variables in each person’s history, but I’m happy to do video content on topics related to my work experience. I encourage interaction, and let’s keep it respectful. We have so many different experiences and opinions. Enya in Irish myth, Eithne (Enya) was the daughter of the Fomorian king Balor of the Evil Eye. She was the mother of the sun god Lugh, one of the most prominent figures in the Tuatha Dé Danann. Fomorians were enemies of the gods demonic entities. You can find the same in demons who eat humans in Bali and in Hindu texts Agneya is the goddess of fire and her father Agni also has physical traits of a demon. Ochón is ochón ó. Sound, song and rhythm. The most ancient primal expression. Singing a song that has touched me so deeply, brought through by the late bean feasa and song carrier as well as tradition keeper, Eithne Ní h'Uállacháin from Louth. This song came into my life long before I decided to honour my path and calling to step into grief tending and remembering the ways of the mná chaointe na hÉireann. Like all great songs, it was working its draíocht(magick) on me in the background, preparing the ground of my being for what was to come. Thinking back on this morning now I know that this felt like a special way to honour her legacy. To sing at sunsrise together with a living legend, Rónán O'Snodaigh, a man who I deeply respect, one who has invoked so much meaning, expression and rememberance through the way he is in rhythm with this land and sings to the beat of his own drum with our mother tongue. Its one of those moments that carries you forth for many moons ahead. What you see here in the video wasn't planned. It wasn't part of the original vision of the piece and for me this was the gift. It was raw and felt quiet ancient to be standing ontop a hill at sunrise singing the ochón our indigenous caoine (keening) sound.
