How to get to Èze in the French Riviera 🇫🇷 The train station does NOT drop you off at the medieval city!! I list this as an easy ‘travel mistake’ mainly because if you are pressed for time, are not expecting to hike uphill, or are not dressed properly, this can really throw a wrench in your plans! That being said, the hike is supposed to be beautiful, so if time allows and you’re up for it, by all means, enjoy the hike! Save these tips 👇🏻 if you’re planning on visiting Eze and the botanical gardens🪴 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 CROWDS Be prepared for crowds especially if you’re visiting during peak season (may-august). The medieval village and the gardens are small, and there are bus loads of tourists hoping to catch the views! My advice is to visit either early or aim to be there late until the closing hour. 🚌 GETTING THERE There are two bus lines (602, 82) running between Eze Village and Nice. Be sure to check the most recent timetables, tickets and be prepared for a full bus‼️ There is also another bus (83) that you can catch from Beaulieu sur mer or Eze bord de mer. A third option is to hike! 🤸🏼‍♂️ You can get the train to Eze bord de mer and climb up the hike to the medieval Eze Village on top of the mountain. Make sure you’re prepared with enough water! TICKETS🎟️ Visit to the botanical gardens costs 5€. You can pay at the entrance! Here’s an important tip if you’re visiting the famed Eze village from Nice! ❌ Don’t Take the train from Nice to Eze because you’ll have to hike 1.5h up steep slopes to get to the village ✅ Instead Take bus 82 from Nice to Eze village which brings you directly to Eze on the hill. After you’re done visiting, take the sentier Nietzsche hike down. It’ll be so much easier for you to hike down than up, you’ll thank me later. You can take a bus from train station, but keep in mind, departure schedule for bus 83 from station to Èze is 1hr apart. 🚌BUS FROM NICE > ÈZE Every hour bus 82 departs from Nice(Vauban stop) to Èze, and if you start your day in the morning this is the best choice compared to taking a train. If you are traveling as a group, Uber works out practical and is not too expensive. 👟WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES From the foot to the top of the village, you will be climbing up steep, cobble stone stairs and streets and to avoid slipping and risking your ankle, wear comfortable shoes. ⛔️ÈZE IS CAR FREE And thus, the village is not accessible for mobility limited travellers(something to keep in mind if you are travelling with an older parent or pregnant). 🥂BOOK YOUR DRINKS WITH A VIEW IN ADVANCE There are 2 iconic spots for a sunset drink: Chèvre d’Or hotel and Chateau Èza hotel(featured in this video) and needs prior reservations in summer! 🌵DON’T SKIP JARDIN EXOTIQUE A cacti garden may not be so interesting to some, but the views from up the garden is one of the best in French Riviera you will ever have, the entry fee of 8€ is so worth it! 🏩DON’T BOOK AN AIRBNB IN ÈZE As a car free village, booking an Airbnb here means you are in for a surprise when you arrive with your bags. The 2 hotels we mentioned before for drinks offer free porter service for the guests, but not airbnbs. 🍝LIMITED RESTAURANT CHOICES If you stay in Èze, you are limited to few dining options within the village and have to head out to another town for dinner. Eze is a delightful medieval village perched high above the Mediterranean, nestled between Nice and Monaco.
